Some people complain at major design changes of a software but eventually they get used to the new design.
I do not complain. I do not talk about design but usability and accessibility. #a11y
Who does that? I don't know any browser or software in general that keeps older designs for ever.
Well, i do not want to take part of such enshittification dance and i resist in such othering discussion.
And if design forces users with impairment to change settings such change is bad. And, no, i do not want the "let us forget a few percent of users with impairment" game.
A good product should not exclude such users and should not make them to have more work to do than others.I am concerned.

@electryon Actually, the old icons are still in the browser, and still as the defaults.
What's changed is only the new themes with custom icons. So if a user (like me) wanted some icons changed back, it's as easy as going into the theme settings and removing the custom icons.
Developers are stuck between a rock and a hard place:
-
Roll out the new icons, keep the old as an option.
Result: Angry users who don't like change, since most don't even know about custom icons or how to change themes. -
Stick with the old icons, make the new optional.
Result: Most users will never see the new icons or have an opinion on them at all.
Of course, it's easy and takes less than a minute going into the theme icon settings and resetting the ones you don't like. Easy for me - maybe not so "easy" for others - but do I care? Not really

@Pathduck Just tell me why a design change which is no a enhancement of the browser should be so important to force it on users? Or is it because like with a new design we get 1 Million more users?
I really hope that such design change will give us a flood of many, many gazillions new users.
-
@DoctorG I explained it above - if they didn't "force" it no-one would see them to even complain about them.
This is only a Snapshot, maybe they will add a feature to easier switch between icon sets - currently it's not so easy for non-technical users, I get that.

I agree 100%.
No matter what they do they can't win.
Someone will complain no matter what they do. -

I am not talking about you.
You seem to be a reasonable person.
I was talking in general, that's why I used "people".
And people today are more entitled that ever and they only care about what they want. -

In this forum there are so-called "professional whiners".

Hi, if a user report something here I trust the user, maybe you check the thread.
Extensions can really do anything in a browser, change settings, delete user data and much more.
If a Vivaldi developer tell me this is impossible I trust the Vivaldi developer.https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/101612/images-gone-for-some-emails

@npro Thank you, i will look on it.
But i also saw some people with Arch and similar problems(from random YouTube videos).
And yeah, next time it will be Debian.

- Very nice
- Not a fan of round-ish tabs, switching to Appearance->Compact, as recommended, solved this for me
- My only concern is the poor contrast between the background and active tab in the default Dark mode (Mac laptop). I switched to the Issuna theme, which is slightly better. The color scheme in private mode works well, so I'd recommend tweaking the default theme for better contrast.
- No harm in repeating, very nice update

A suggestion to you, given that the design has embraced roundness now, the razor-sharp corners of the browser window go against it in a very harsh way, they should be rounded too. Ιn the case of a native window (that takes account of the roundness set by the OS already) it should be stretched back to cover that resulting gap.
A screenshot from Elementary OS showing that:

For example, not all my cursor work properly in Vivaldi (When i hover mouse over Vivaldi it automatically changes to default one).
Happens after use of Developer Tools → Mobile View.
That issue is fixed in a internal 6.10 now. Stay tuned for some next Snapshot fixing it.

Am I not a user reporting something? I even shared with you an image to illustrate what it isn't doing.
If it was as simple as blaming the extension, then wouldn't the rest of us (you included) be having the same issue?

Early Stable Chrome 130, so in two weeks we will have V7.0, i hope, can't wait.
-
@DoctorG Unfortunately it's not a case. This is some Linux/x11 related issues.
And i have more confidence in it especially after i switched to KDE plasma, and my cursor also sometimes changes to default. I sort of fixed it, but yeah, annoying. -
@ipristy: tall order. I don't think a visual redesign will be rushed without some polishing. And this is 6.10, not 7

Dashboard doesn't appear in Private windows. Feature, or bug?
I wish it was usable in private windows, too.
