New look, new feature – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 3483.4

Great work! I miss in the new dashboard a widget for latest "notes" created with Vivaldi Notes
-
This is great, it was expected that once in 10 years, the design would be changed.
But is it possible to have icons displayed in the context menus and in the browser menu as standard, as well as blurring in the interface and in context menus, and a new browser icon?
-
My hot take is that I do not like the new regular 'non compact' style. I think Firefox had the floating tab look for a while and it's something that I don't like. The option to have a regular and compact view is appreciated.
As for the new icons, some I like, some I don't. I think most on the side panel look really good. The navigation icons, maybe I'm not used to but I don't like them as much. I liked the old arrows.
A few stand out to me. I don't like the new home icon that's probably the main one for me. I didn't recognize what the translate icon was, to me it is not suggestive of its function. I would say the same thing about the Capture Page icon - the camera was more informative. I also think the cloud made more sense for Sync than the new laptop/phone icon.
Is there an option to mix between the two icon sets?

Major performance regressions with the UI in this build. Whole UI is super, super slow (whether in compact or regular density mode). Scrolling, typing, switching tabs, everything. Too frustrating to use. Disabling animation and restarting Vivaldi doesn't help.
Windows 11 23H2 + Intel Core i5 2520m + Intel HD 3000. Previous snapshots were super smooth.

Love the dashboard feature, I always wanted something like that in a browser. Hope there will be more customization in the future, like more size options, website widget zoom, etc.

Regular density mode has some issues with Fitts's law when window is maximized. Clicking the top edge of the screen above the + button on the tab bar does nothing. Same with the "Show closed tabs" button. Same with the Vivaldi menu button (on the left side of it as well).

This post is deleted! -
@burnout426 We accounted for Fitts’ law for the tabs but might have forgotten about it for the other buttons. Oh, well, you live and you learn.
-
I like the new tab look, but if THAT is what the Vivaldi team is concentrating on... I'll see if I go to compact mode, it saves some pixels.
-
@longlife: You can click on the tripple dot icon on most of the widgets and select between "regular" and "tall" sizes.
-
@burnout426: We are working on a fix for this. Thanks.
-
I love the new design and new the dashboard feature. Way to go!
Also, time to use the dashboard UI to implement Kanban boards! -
With the updated design, tabs are now floating. This opens up possibilities like this completely rounded tab shape, which was not previously possible.
I always knew and was always confident that the team would come to their senses and do the right thing. Once again the team did not let me down.
PS.
I understand you perfectly. It has always been difficult to change misconceptions and come to your senses, but it is never too late.

I wonder why so many designers work hard to make tabs not look like tabs. It's like everyone wants to be different in some way!
I'm liking the idea of a dashboard, especially for a browser with so many features as Vivaldi.
-
I did already
-
Love the new Dashboard, but will stick in Compact-Mode.

Oh, BTW, I am afraid I have some bad news for some people (hopefully none of you).
The Bad News(TM) is that after the update to Chromium 130 in this snapshot, Vivaldi will not be able to install on any Mac running macOS 10.15 (or older). macOS 11 is now the oldest version of the OS supported.
Of course, none of you are using such an old Operating System version, right? Right???
For the interested, here is some light(?) reading.

V menu is not aligned, that should be fixed, not sure or this is it?
New skin works but this phantom clicking that actually works with middle of the mouse cursor, who invented that in general is just dumb.
Why 6.10 and not 7.0?

Looove the Dashboard! Any (crazy) plans to allow for a easy (or 'easy-ish') way to create custom widgets for us who like to create/use one mod (or 10 xD) ?
