Yes you will have to build up a reputation. You can comment, share themes, just overall being active in the community. I had an email with them quite some time ago but switched to proton (huge mistake) and no longer have access. I will one day this time Vivaldi is here to stay lol
-
@alp58 You can't.
You created this profile 4 hours ago, and it will not be eligible for a vivaldi.net webmail address until it has gained sufficient reputation. Please see the help pages.
We welcome you to Vivaldi land the community with open arms. But Vivaldi webmail privileges have to be earned. They are only available to genuine, involve community members.

AAyespy moved this topic from Mail on

@Silouan Vivaldi webmail is still available, but now must be earned through establishing a solid reputation with Vivaldi through community involvement and use of other services. It is no longer promoted, because use of the service by spammers caused overload of Vivaldi servers and rejection of vivaldi.net - sourced emails by many major mail providers (Microsoft, GMail, etc.) so that Vivaldi Webmail users could not count on their friends being able to receive their emails.
Now that most of the spammers have been weeded out, Vivaldi Webmail is more widely accepted (but of course now it's only available to actual community members, not fly-by-night spammers).
-
What I can do if I am definitely not a spammer, but would like to see how it all looks like - starting from messages / attachments / contacts backup, local folders and related.
I am using the browser for years - thanks again for your well done job. Why do not add the email client and email services if convenient and work as expected. -
@DesmondJones The email client is already a part of your browser and free and open for your use.
If you have been a user of the browser for years but only joined the community an hour ago, know that webmail is not a part of the browser and not a service that comes with the browser (like sync is), but rather a service provided for the community. As a new community member, you have the opportunity to accumulate reputation and earn webmail access just like any other new member.

And Vivaldi webmail is a standard roundcube service. Plenty of Screenshots can be found in web searches
-
@Ayespy Thanks for the prompt reply.
Seems that I have to use other email accounts to play with the email client.
-
@WildEnte Ah, Okay. Thanks!
-
@Ayespy How many "reputation" is require? Is there a countdown?
-
@alexio We don't know, and if we did, we couldn't tell you. That would defeat the purpose as an anti-spam measure.
-
@Ayespy If we (users) know the reputation countdown it will help us to wait more patiently.
You can create a guideline for be complete by new users, like Dropbox does for grant additional space.
It's my feedback about it. -
@alexio Thank you for your feedback. Of course Dropbox wants you to become dependent on their service to the point where you begin to pay for a subscription. Then they make money off of you. They publish what they offer and how to earn it.
Vivaldi gains nothing if you use their webmail. It only costs them. It's a net loss. So if you want it, they will let you earn it, and they will provide it as a sort of favor to you. Earning it is meant to be uncertain and to take effort, so that spammers will not be interested in it. Spammers are only interested in earning without working.
