Easy way to Sync/Bookmark multiple Hibernated Tabs
- Disconnect from Internet
- Clean V Cache
- Run V
- From First or Last, Start to Swipe on the Address Bar to "Reload" each Tab
(Since no internet, they will not Load content nor consume resources) - Once done for
All Tabs
(For more than 100, you have to be very quick or do it in groups of 80 and Sync.
I had to did it that way for 900+ since it can't "Remember" them and starts to Hibernate them again. You would then clean duplicates with any extension on Desktop)
-- - Enable Internet
- Go to
Vivaldi://Sync-Internals
- Click on
Trigger get Updates
--
It will Sync them all - Go to V Desktop
️ -- > Open All Tabs
Will open a New Window
Tabs will start Hibernated- Right click - Bookmark all Tabs
Then clean the Mobile Device Closing their Tabs.
Should work from Desktop to Mobile as well.

I found that you can sync lots of tabs this way even if they go in background. I synced around 650 tabs at one go. Difference is that it should be in a single session. If you quit browser then background tabs probably won't sync, otherwise they will sync even after going in background as long you are in a single session without exiting.

When doing it, tried to do it in one time, but noted they went to sleep so because of that the grouping in 80/100.
Even in sleep, right, if they're in the "memory" they would be sync 'd.But would be related also to the
Android version
RAM availableWhatever the reason seems the easiest way, just choose whether in one shot or splitting.
The problem here is if you try in one shot and fails, you've spent time for nothing

I mean, guys, if any moderator is here and can forward our issues to the developers, please stop telling us workarounds that are making our life harder and tell the developers to just introduce a 'bookmark all opened tabs' option...
I love this browser but it really needs improvements in some aspects...
A bookmark all tabs button or at least a select all open tabs option and send them massively to Vivaldi desktop or other apps...
Thanks and keep up the good work! -
FYI, there is an open bug requesting this feature: VAB-3422
However, I don't know how high up (or how far down) this feature is on the devs' list of to-dos.

@xyzzy
Hi, the bug is set to Confirmed but no developer assigned.
@theodoreippon
Hi, it is the same with all of the 5000 feature requests, some user need there requests urgently other user don´t need it at all.
This request have 9 user votes since two years, I would not wait for it.
I don´t need this request at all so it is better for me if the Vivaldi developer spend there time for my requests. If a request is tagged as Pipeline a developer is working on it.
Cheers, mib

Bump (sorry)....

Definitely support this idea. Especially on mobile after Vivaldi "close all tabs" function made me loose over 350 tabs there...
-
I too would love to see this feature. Thank you Devs!

I myself don't bother with bookmarks anymore since getting FVD Speed Dial, but I maintain the systems of a couple of friends that save bookmarks besides dials. I know their browsing habits so I know they woulds make use of something like this.
I've since Dropped FVD Speed Dial cause it was caught spying. I like others have replaced it with Group Speed Dial.

Today I noticed that somehow all the tabs from android are getting synced without doing anything manually. But don't get excited as the option of 'Open All Tabs' from the cloud button is missing! And you can't even right click for options or ctrl-click for quickly opening all the tabs.
-
I agree, I would love that too.
-
Same here, I'd really like this feature to be added.
I've recently switched to Vivaldi after using another browser for years, its mobile version did have the possibility to bookmark all tabs. Vivaldi's computer version can do this, so why can't the mobile version? It would be a great improvement.
I tend to read random articles on the internet on my phone after I've gone to bed, reading always helps me to fall asleep. The moment I notice I'm getting too tired, but I still have articles in other tabs that I haven't read, I want to bookmark them all at once, quickly, to continue reading another time. Having to bookmark them seperately, while I'm literally already drifting off to sleep (only to wake up again once my phone drops from my hands to the floor), it... should be a little easier.
-
Totally agree with the people in this thread.
First time I hoarded 100+ tabs on mobile, I managed to clean it by opening them on desktop and bookmarking them there. But now I have the same problem @spaztastical was having 2 years ago, in that I see in Sync only 1/3 of my mobile tabs.
I can't believe there are options to "Close All" and "Close Other", but no way to actually Save all those tabs before closingEdit: UPDATE BELOW!
-
Funny how a day after posting the above, I discovered that there actually is a good start to implementing this function already in place. One has to do these steps:
- make a group by stacking multiple tabs
- go inside the group and tap the options button (3 dots)
- choose "Select tabs" and select 1 tab
- tap the options button again
- choose "Select all"
- choose "Bookmark tabs"
This will bookmark all those tabs in a folder inside "Mobile bookmarks" folder. After that one can conveniently tap the options button again and hit "Close tabs".
The problem that I see now (which is new) is that the "Stack tabs" option doesn't do anything anymore. It used to activate the easy selection of tabs to group them faster. Now I can only group tabs by dragging them over each other.
Also, the Sync problem is separate from this "Bookmark all tabs" feature request, and syncing of ALL tabs should work, especially since the "Send tab to device" option has been removed.
I love that there are so many options offered by this browser, but I always have to remind myself that it is a work in progress..
Cheers!

@Gnaritas Thanks for the info! I'm trying to walk through this process and it's basically working, however I think due to how many tabs I have open (over 2,700) my browser/phone just can't handle the strain.
I moved around 200 into a folder, then selected all and bookmarked them, but when I went to close them the browser seems to crash/freeze.
I restarted and then went and added a few hundred more to the group, but now it just freezes any time I try to open Vivaldi. I can't do anything at all anymore.
I really don't want to lose over 2,000 tabs that I've been wanting to at least bookmark and save, because I can't sync them to my desktop and now I can't even open Vivaldi in my phone any more.
-
@jstressman A few things have changed and improved since I wrote the above comment. First, like you mention, now the "Select tabs" function works, along with the useful "Select all" and "Bookmark tabs".
However, you have a more extreme case, and you might try another new feature, which is the "Synced Tabs" group at the bottom of the Windows Panel (in the Desktop app). There you have a list of all the other devices where you are logged in, and should see the list of all tabs opened on your phone. Right-click on it and "Save as Bookmarks" (I would't advice opening 2000 tabs, even on desktop where you have more RAM)Hope this solves your problem.
Cheers!

@Gnaritas That does get me a lot closer, thank you! Unfortunately it only shows 1,680 of my 2,710 tabs. So I'm still going to lose ~1,000 tabs, but it's definitely better than nothing! (And bookmarking them to the desktop is actually my preferred solution, so that was great.)
I think others reported this same problem, and you basically have to go through and activate all the tabs manually I think to get them to show up. I don't remember for sure.
-
@Gnaritas Surprisingly I was able to select all tabs in my tab screen on the phone, and bookmark all tabs from there. Then sync that to my desktop as well. I'm a happy camper now. All 2,710 tabs saved on both devices. Now I'm just trying to close all tabs without crashing the browser, but I'll get there! Thank you again!
-
@jstressman Glad to hear that you bookmarked them all! Now, worst case scenario, I think you can just reinstall Vivaldi on the phone to have a fresh start, if you cannot close them. Cheers!
