...Originally this was a feature request, but someone moved here my thread thinking it was a bug. -
@gwen-dragon They made a feature request thread, some moderator moved it. Just move it back, I already upvoted hours ago.

ok, Mr. attention seeker, duly noted
-
Users complaining about Vivaldi fails and no bug reports could found on Shoutcast issues in Vivaldi bugtracker.
No stream to check, no fixes.
And internal testers can not guess by looking into a magic crystal ball which URL fails.
-
@infid0 This URL does not play in any browser.
-
@doctorg It’s been 4 years. Who knows what happened in the meantime, it’s hard to judge now.

@luetage , necro-posting issue, not a bug. The webradios I use are working fine

@doctorg Hi, shoutcast servers seem fail on purpose, and goes to the 'save , save as, open' options. Below is an example
https://ssl.srvstm.com:8864/stream
If the devs don't want to play it back, then please give the option to open an external player.Choosing open just starts an endless download.
-
@imlitimlit Bug is reported as VB-88557 "audio/aacp shoutcast does not play"
Fails with Vivaldi 5.2 & 5.3. Fails on Edge, Chromium and Opera, too! All on Windows 11, Debian 11, Ubuntu 20
Works only in Firefox.

Logical, as the content is a stream, it will never end.

You should bash Chromium/Chrome developers for missing decoding audio/aacp stream.
It is NOT Vivaldi's dev team fault! -
So many bugs in Chromium core about audio/aac and this seems to be related to AAC+ (aacp) encoded audio streams.
@imlitimlit As it is a missing feature in Chromium core, please test with Chromium 100 browser and then report to Chromium devs.
May be a upstream fix from Chromium devs will get into Vivaldi in some weeks. -
@doctorg Thank you for your replies. I thought it was a bigger issue with almost all playback. This thread is quite old, and there certainly have been improvements.
-
Broken decoding the stream seems to be related to this Chromium issue: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1289825
