Further fixes for recent regressions – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2115.54
-
An interesting bug I encounter since a few versions ago:
Close the last tab in a window and quickly minimize the window --> speed dial opens and the window restores itself. Slightly annoying.
Can someone confirm this? It might help to have a slow computer so you can minimize the window before the speed dial opens.
Windows 8.1 x64

Using search nicknames in Quick Commands is still broken it seems.
-
@luetage Not for me, when I type
w test
it opens a Wikipedia search for "test". -
@luetage Works fine for me now, except for the default search engine.
-
@Rexfahrer Test it more thoroughly. It doesn’t break on all searches and it seems to depend on whether it finds something in your history. It’s a reported bug too. Point is the nickname is being ignored at times, when a few snapshots back it always used to trigger.
-
@luetage Indeed, sometimes it selects an entry from the history and opens that when I press enter. At least it opens in a new tab...
-
@Rexfahrer Yep, that bug has been fixed previously, gladly.
-
was hopeful but not to be - back to an older version!
open start page to use address bar as search - address bar is usually 'live' in that you can type in it without clicking in it - that no longer works in this snapshot and a few earlier ones
-
It has been fixed that when creating a new page it appears next to the current one, and not at the end? If it is not fixed, i will not install it.
-
@wetware05: nope, it's still broken

Yes, I reported it as VB-74754. It's probably been reported before as well. A bit annoying but nothing I'd go back to an earlier snapshot for - after all Snapshots are supposed to be for testing not stability
It takes .5s to just Alt+D into the URL bar, and needs to be done once on startup.
-
@profi: Though reported fixed, and bug report closed, a couple builds ago. I wish there were a better system to invalidate a held truth rather than just opening a new bug report and going to the back of the line...but there isn't.

Still wondering whether the "tabs open in reverse order" phenomenon in all 3.5's (but none before) is intentional. In other words, bug or feature?
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/52347/bug-tab-order-broken-in-3-5-2088-7One way to easily see this (there are other ways):
-You have a folder that includes bookmarked sites A, B, C, in that order.
-From the side panel, you right-click the folder and choose "Open in background tab"
-The sites are opened in tabs from left to right in this order: A, B, CBut it always used to be C, B, A.
-
@Gwen-Dragon You’ve just confirmed the bug — if it’s a bug.
Expected is (according to @rseiler) OTTO — IDEALO — eBay — Amazon — AliExpress — Booking.

[Tabs][Menus][Regression] “Close tab” via menu fails (VB-74804)
also closes VB-74755.
Thank you for that! -
Still present:
VB-74795 - the Window panel stops to update after a new tab opened via existing tab context menu in the Window panel;
VB-74797, VB-74542 - the broken "After Active Tab". -
@rseiler, @Gwen-Dragon, @potmeklecbohdan
it's relevant to the known New Tab Position bug which is not yet fixed people -
please, please, please fix the middle click bug VB-73767...
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/49487/bug-middle-clicking-on-a-webpage-can-trigger-unintentional-actions -
My start page has vanished! No tiles, nothing! Just an empty page. What happened?
-
@npro Right, hadn’t looked at it this way. Anyway, the new tab position must be fixed first & then we’ll know for sure.
