Chromium update and status bar clock – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1843.5
-
@okaybadger
use SHIFT and drag'n'drop the clock to the left of the adressbar -
This is very useful to have a clock in the status bar, but what is still missing is a seconds display, like @luetage of its modification:
History Clock (keeping easter egg alive)

Some of my fav sites couldn't load e.g Transno.com, Workona extension. Just report here in case someone else have same issue.
-
@ayespy: Yes, I have also done that but it does not solve the problem.
Btw, I can't reorganize my web panels, too.
-
@gwen-dragon: I logged in these sites as usual until I update the lastest Snapshot yesterday. I don't think it happened because of my extensions.
-
@pesala:
Except if you have the speaker muted... -
@derday: I can confirm the same behavior but on win 7 64b.
-
@Teevar see also this thread

There could be a conflict between an extension and this version of Vivaldi/Chromium causing it, though.
-
I hide the status bar. Wouldn't it be better if the alarm clock could be displayed alone under this setting?
-
@poto Show status bar, press shift and drag it on the left of the address bar for example, hide status bar again.
-
@komposten: Yes, It is Adguard conflicting with this version that caused the issue. Thank you! I've reported it to Vivaldi team.

Interesting new flags with chromium 81:
- #extension-checkup seems to add another info box to the extensions page. probably a chrome WIP
- #webui-tab-strip - for the chrome UI only. adds tab thumbnails. Chrome devs continue to be inspired by Vivaldi, I think
- #system-keyboard-lock - new API for web apps, I wonder how this would interact with Vivaldi shortcuts if turned on and in use
- #enable-new-download-backend ?
- #sharing-send-via-sync ?
- #enable-portals-cross-origin - a new web feature chrome is trying to push is available for testing.
- #storage-access-api - new API for web apps
- #font-access - "enumerating installed fonts" will be useful for rich text editing web apps, but also for fingerprinters
- #raw-clipboard - may be useful for web apps which need advanced editing capabilities
- #freeze-user-agent - goodbye user agents, you won't be missed
- #enable-user-data-snapshot - enables safe rolling back to older versions. could be useful for snapshot testers, but unfortunately as this is the first time it's available, you can't go back right now
Also,
- #form-controls-refresh was previously available but is now turned on by default
-
@derday: me 2
-
@poto: Ok, i put my alarm clock in the toolbar to the left of the address bar
This question arises, why can't tools be placed with plug-in buttons? Which is to the right of the address bar -
@ian-coog: Thanks, I also thought that there was no time to refresh the page. I have another question, why can't the tool be placed with the plug-in button, which is on the right side of the address bar

@13-beta2: yeah... i was not sure, but it doesn't surprise me. vivaldi is always copying features from opera 12, a browser from 9 years ago. it would be nice if they copy current opera, which features i miss everyday i spend with vivaldi.
-
@ruarí: The format is based on the locale used by V. There is a settings available internally, but this setting is tied to a feature, so not released. Releasing that setting would help tho.
-
Oh my, Reddit and Twitter are both broken. Yeah I know it's been reported, just found it surprising that such huge bugs made it in Chromium (or is it just Vivaldi?)
This snapshot is not usable in this state, gonna have to revert. -

Personally, I can't even look at that browser, it makes me want to puke as a whole , they have long gone way beyond the saying of "all in good measure", its overly excessive, oversaturated, overmagnified, narcissistic, hipstery, and transexual pinky-purple design drips from every corner of the browser and the company in general, see design, blog language, presentation to the public and market positioning, not to speak about privacy issues, their predatory lend practices in Africa which are being investigated and the chinese ownership.
But as those things don't matter to you, and you still see "features" in it, you are apparently using the wrong browser and free to return to your favorite one.
