Chromium update and status bar clock – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1843.5
-
@Gwen-Dragon Yep, twitch and twitter work with --disable-extensions
-
The best thing for me in this snapshot is that the dial is selected on the first start and you can use arrows keys for navigation
And Spatial Navigation is working again!
I don't care about clock, i have it in the tray
-
@Gwen-Dragon bummer, I won't even try then, This is a serious issue, not like the stupid whining about the PiP button. Must be solved asap

Not viable for me especially on twitch, ads are a plague there. In a 2nd profile I have uBO installed, updated the lists with the same settings as my 1st profile, and I'm watching videos without ads and problems there.
-
Here is the annoying thing i have noticed right now. Favicon on the tab is reloading when you scroll the page.
-
The clock is a very nice original feature!
-
I did some research about my problems with the last update.
- (VB-64179) When I start Vivaldi, the browser shows an empty menu
I located the problem in my user data directory. I seems that my Notes file blocks the Vivaldi menu from rendering on my system. Weird, huh?!...
As soon as i delete the Notes file (backed it up before) and then start Vivaldi, the Vivaldi menu renders totally normal. I think the new notes features broke something in my Notes file. My problem is that I don't know how to find the broken parts in the Notes file and how to repair it.
Cheers
-
@HalleAndert Zip it and send it to the devs by replying to your JIRA mail, explaining like you did here that you narrowed the problem within your notes file.
-
Well still no PIP disabler what a coincidence....
-
Love the clock. Thank you so much
-
@ian-coog: I keep the option in mind but for now I try to find the broken note entries by myself. I use a lot of folders inside my notes to have a clean structure. It's pretty hard to locate the broken entry.
-
@alespg: Original? Have ever seen Opera 12 status bar?
-
@13-beta2 The clock in Opera 12.18 is just a simple text field. The Vivaldi clock is also a countdown timer, an appointment reminder, and has several configuration settings. Click the clock to see the various options.
-
I love the clock and alarm, although I wish I could move it all the way to the right of the zoom controls on the status bar.
But my biggest wish is stil to get a PiP icon off toggle...
-
@rockemail: Reddit is broken too. Can't even use Twitter in Tweetdeck.
-
@Ruarí I don't think popups are very helpful. I know some people are deaf, and others work in an office, but an alarm should be a sound. People install all kinds of stuff to block popups.
-
Created an alarm for 23:16 (i.e. the current time; I didn't change anything), but the alarm was actually set to 15:44?
Also, this:

I am looking at my subscribed reddits right now in the default profile and I only had to hit Ctrl-F5 when one showed as unavailable, probably some hiccup, but so far works for me.
EDIT: ok ok, Ctrl-F5 is needed often when changing subreddits, something is broken indeed, often brings up "Sorry, for some reason reddit can't be reached." -
Noticed a few broken things and wanted to leave here quickly in case someone might be able to confirm:
- Twitter does not work (I see some people have already mentioned)
- Google drive: upload does not work.
- Gmail: hangout conversations does not work.
-
@paralaks The twitter bug is known. It's one of several breakages introduced by the Chromium 81 intake.
The other two you should read how to file a bug report and report them, as I don't think anyone at Vivaldi uses anything like Google Drive or Hangouts in the browser.
