Disable new functionality "Add Active Tab" on bookmark folders

@joelyoung It is there because it was there in Old Opera for a long time. When you click it, it adds the bookmark to the folder. The position depends on the sort order that you have selected.
I find it very useful, I use this function a lot! But I understand that some do not like it.

Yes please, need an option to turn this thing off!
-
I'm also finding this change of position rather frustrating, and have a number of accidentally added bookmarks to prove it.
-
I'd like to add my voice to this too, I absolutely hate this change. It causes me constantly to do accidental bookmarks whenever I want to call up the first entry of a bookmark in one of my Folders and it is also confusing to have to look at this entry and then past it. I beg of you to revert it until customization is ready. I perceive Vivaldi as a browser that prides itself in plentiful Customization, and behavior like this definitely should be part of that since it seriously impacts usability for some of us.
In addition I'm not sure what the benefit of this button is over the regular bookmarking method. You can add something to a folder slightly faster, that's true. But if you have many folders and your target folder is at the deep end (past what the Bookmark bar displays) the old way is still faster anyway isn't it. Just because it was in Opera does not necessarily make it a good choice to copy. But I digress, a simple toggle would solve the annoyance for everyone either way - so please sort this out asap for your power users.

As you said, quick to do the action of adding a bookmark, I think it's exactly for that, a much faster way to add a bookmark to a specific folder.

Honestly I do not think so, I still find this option quicker. Image
So far I've never added a bookmark by accident, maybe because I got used to this option very fast, but I understand that some do not like it, I hope the team does not remove this option, as they already said, an option to disable and activate would please the who do not like this option. -
Ugh, just make this new feature optional please. There's no way you can claim this is 'quicker' than a good ol' Ctrl+D. I don't want to sound too petty, but this is yet another step backwards for what was becoming such a promising browser- guess I'll be going back to Firefox for now haha.
I mean come on Vivaldi, I thought you were good at catering to power users.

@MasterLeo29
I also wish to hide this “Add active tab”, completely and I think that such a big feature as editable menus will hardly ever come.
But I think an option to hide “Add active tab” would be very very much more easy. -

It is, if you're adding a bookmark to a specific folder on the Bookmarks Bar.
With the Add Bookmark dialogue you first have to select the folder; with the Bookmarks Bar you just open the folder and click on Add Active Tab. With the Bookmarks Menu, some navigation is required, but using Access Keys it is arguably easier than finding the desired folder in the Add Bookmark dialogue. I'd like an option to disable or hide the "add active tab" option. It appears at the bottom of EVERY active bookmark folder, it is annoying and not necessary.
Some user may like it, but sounds like plenty don't. But at least give user the option to show / hide it.

I have no idea why some could even find it a minor annoyance to have one single extra entry in the bookmark folder. What kind of usage scenario would cause this to be an issue?
Personally I'd like it placed back at the top of each menu like it used to be, because when I add bookmarks I use the keyboard, and it's much faster than any other method.
Alt+B to open bookmarks menu.
Press first letter of folder, for instance 'N' for News.
Press A to add the bookmark.The reason it's better on the top of each menu is because I have folders starting with A, and trying to navigate to these adds a bookmark instead. So with the "Add bookmark..." entry at the top and focused I can press Enter and voila.
It should be on top, but because a couple of loud-mouthed individuals Vivaldi moved it to the bottom for unknown reasons.
A good compromise I guess is to add an option to not show the entry in the bookmarks bar, but I doubt it'd get much priority, as the extra line is not a big deal.

I don't know if that is true, but it would not surprise me in the least.

Exactly. Putting at the bottom breaks the former behaviour and makes it much harder to access with the mouse, which is what one has to use to add bookmarks to Bookmarks Bar folders.
(VB-52566) Add Active Tab Should be at the Top of the Folder menu

This topic is not about moving it around, though, it’s about having an option to remove it completely. ;-P

Same here. Any way to turn this off?
-
@madonnaragu No.
We are still waiting for Allow Editing of Menus
