Status Bar Loading Info – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1594.4

@thot: No problem here on Windows 10. ️
-
@altcode: This problem is not happening on all my PC's that are on Windows 10.
-
@rhk so probably got fixed on windows (at least for me now works) but got worse on Mac

It would be nice to implement the old style timer inside the status bar for progress.
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/34899/show-timer-inside-address-bar-to-show-waiting-for-responseJust like in this screenshot Time: 1:46
-
@saudiqbal: Yes, this would be especially useful for those who don't use the status bar. Those people won't benefit from the feature added to this snapshot at all.
Update: To correct this, if you enable the status bar overlay feature, you will still benefit from the new feature in this snapshot.

Pausing a download still takes 100% cpu time - VB-54422. Raised 14/6
Bookmarking a link, still puts at the end of the BM list, rather than asking for location - VB-54720. Raised 21/6 -

Exactly. The Opera one gave all the necessary information about the page, including speed which is really missing from the current implementation.
I never liked having the information in the address bar, and it also disappears too quick to be of any use.
-
And editing the URL in the address bar is still wonky - I have to press Del twice before it takes, and even then it still goes to the current URL or a bookmark

Alright, here's an old wish of mine that I haven't seen anyone give much thought to:
Make a second row of tabs, please.I use Vivaldi for work (I work with translation and digital illustration, so I need to do a lot of research), and although it's great as is, I think it could go one step further.
If we had a second row of tabs, I could better organize what I need for work and for entertainment, plus we could have a system where you have two tabs open (like Tab Tiling) at the same time, except, when you click on another tab outside of the group, you don't leave the split screen.
That way I could have, say, a Youtube video playing on the left, tied to Tab Row A, and a dictionary open on the right tied to Tab Row B. When I click on another Tab on Row B, the only window that changes is the one on the right, while the Youtube video is still visible on the left.
Yes, I know having two windows open will lead to virtually the same result, but the keyword here is "Virtually" - it is not the same. I'm looking to increase my productivity (which is why I got a 21:9 monitor to go alongside my old 16:9 one, that become the second screen) by reducing the number of windows open, not increasing it.
Please, consider making a second row of tabs. It will be a godsend for productivity, and it's something I have been asking for since the very first year, although that didn't seen to get any support from the community either. But as someone who needs multiple websites open at the same time and suffers from having to leave the tab tiling stack every time I open a tab outside of the selection, this is really frustrating.

For ddg search engine on Win10:
Added &kg=p to end of url, unchecked "Use POST Method".
It works that way now as a workaround. -

I use status bar all the time and still want to see more info on the status bar including the timer.
-
@thot: Thanks very much for the report! FYI, this has also been reported internally: VB-55002
-
@xyzzy: Aha - ok.
-
@thot: It's been this way since last snapshot on macOS. In my opinion nothing new.
-
@AltCode "features.json" is part of the app bundle. However, if any experiment is shipped in a disabled state, I would not enable it. Any such feature would either be incomplete or have known regressions.
No idea where that file is located (I'm also on macOS btw)
-
My first impression...damn this is faster than before.
On to this...is everyone on the same page?
The Status Bar is on the bottom of the GUI.
The Address Bar is where the user places it. Top or Bottom.Someone brought up experimentals. I have never been able to access them in a snapshot. Only in a stable release. Yet this is a snapshot thread.

@Hadden89 I haven't seen the pwa experiment work either, but then again I don't know where to test it (enabled only through the experiments page).
I don't think the sensors icon is related, I have seen it before in previous snapshots and the stable version. -
twitter installed as a pwa here on debian.
On some web sites, click vivaldi main menu to see if install option appears.
My example was mobile.twitter.com, I clicked to install. It created a desktop launcher with:
/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-snapshot --profile-directory=Default --app-id=panfkkhihbglmaommdcbgghogdofkjpi
as the command.
It also adds "Chrome Apps" category to xfce menu.Spotify is:
https://open.spotify.com/browse/featured?pwa=1
I didn't install that one, but the option "install spotify" appears in v main menu when on that page.
