Vivaldi 1.15 begins – Vivaldi browser Snapshot 1.15.1089.3
-
@mozzer: I can confirm! Thanks for reporting! Although it does not happen to me on security tooltip but on Open Saved Session window. It is decreasing in height, contrary to increasing width of security tooltip. Contrary or... complementary. Looks to be working symmetrically.
-
@astro_corp: It is not a standard (Chrome) Opera browser functionality. I would say the best party to ask is the add-on developer - ask him for export functionality to some common format. For example to Opera 12 format and then you will be able to import to Vivaldi.
-
@rotfl: It is not happening reliably every time, doesn't it? So the problem here is that it is hard to reproduce. But I can confirm. I would hope it will be looked into. You may file a bug report for it too. Especially if you have reliable or at least quite reliable steps.
-
@steffie: Confirmed. Team is aware of it.
-
@xtremalraven: What do you mean by "enabling tab switch by RMB+scroll no longer affects other functionality"?
-
@lonm: Yea, indeed it seems a good idea to say also on the snapshots' installer screen: "WARNING: This is a test build and may break. If you do not want to beta test software, download a stable version from vivaldi.com".
-
@wojcieche It would not make much difference. There was a big red warning on the download page for Old Opera Betas, but people still complained about bugs.

Last time I had to restore a backup was maybe back in 2014
Or maybe not...
https://vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-1-14-three-years-of-continuous-innovation/Today, we roll out the first release of 2018 that marks the third anniversary of our first technical public preview. Since January 2015
-
@steffie Now, now. People are allowed to believe they've been using a browser for four years, that was released three years ago. Our legend grows...
-
@pesala: Well, in any case, additional place of the warning would not hurt. If it drives away even one user from installing a snapshot, it is good. Because it means this user should not install it. And it will probably drive away more than one user, just we will never know how many.

Or maybe not Well, using Vivaldi is not a landmark in my live, so dates get mixed up.
I was sure I saw a 2014 somewhere. Now that I check, I follow the RSS, and here, since mid 2015 (1.0.215). So it was sometime back then. Or so...
(and thank you for quoting - it is so much easier to read)
(Edit: damn... the software actually hides quoting?! Stupid forum software...) -

Only nested quotes, apparently.

Yes i know... & i largely agree with you btw. My post was meant only to be good-natured teasing; i was not trying to be mean. V, for me as well, is a landmark in browseriserifyingness, & even though like so many here i did use O12 back in the day, it was a lean barren dust-swirling period after O12 more or less died, until V came along. Nowadays V feels to me like i've had it with me "forever". Long may it continue.

On a related note: does anybody know where in the default folder the contrast adjustment is stored? I'd like to have all my other settings back if possible
I echo this request. I had utterly forgotten about this problem, but just now have suffered the same fate. Whilst experimenting with the contrast for entirely different reasons, i was shocked when my V-SS responded with the now infamous grey UI... & only then did i recall this horrible new bug.
Have i missed it -- has anyone posted here an answer? I did not make a backup [coz as i said, i had forgotten this discussion, hence had no idea i was about to shoot myself in the foot].
[Posting this now from Stable, given SS is [temporarily] dead].
-
@steffie Just re-read the whole thread, noted that several others fell into this same "grey trap" [bloody hell i feel stupid for belatedly also succumbing, given the ample warnings herein, sigh], but nobody posted a solution [other than, of course, rebuilding my profile, sigh sigh sigh]. I'd hoped it might have been the Preferences file, but replacing that with a copy from a profile backup i found from a few days ago [before doing the latest SS update] did not help.
-
@steffie Eureka, found it.
/home/steffie/.config/vivaldi-snapshot/Default/Local App Settings/mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli
Replacing that directory with my one from the aforesaid recent backup copy, let V-SS launch normally again.
P H E W !!

@steffie For general reference:
Web-Panels & Themes [etc] are stored in Local App Settings\mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli

Hi, Steffie
Preferences and Local App Settings\mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli: This contains Vivaldi settings and configurations.
This is also where custom Web Panels are stored afaik. -
Am I the only one that have the problem that my tabs doesn't load after starting Vivaldi? I have to wait around 15 min until they load. Running windows 10. I can provide logs if you just tell me which/how. Thanks for filling the void of old Opera!
