Import passwords from Brave, not working
-
Hi,
I am considering switching from Brave to Vivaldi. I did import everything from my Brave profile, via file > import...
It imports all my IDs, but passwords are empty.
Any idea how to make that work? Not being able to import my passwords is a no go form me -

@lalejand Restart of Vivaldi after import did not help?
-
@DoctorG tried, but no
And if I check in saved passwords, they are all empty.

@lalejand
Hi, if it not work this way you can export your passwords in Brave and import them in Vivaldi.
The setting should be reachable in both with:
chrome://settings/passwords
There is a 3 dot menu with im/export.Cheers, mib

@lalejand Strange, i tested with Brave on Ubuntu 23 to import logins into 6.2 Stable, selected in dialog for File → import from applications …. only Passwords - worked.
-
@lalejand Have you previously imported logins by CSV file? I knew about a issue where logins were not updated anymore after a broken import. I had to delete the Login Data file afterwards.
Other idea: you are sure that the GNOME/KDE keyring management has unlocked the ecryption keys to get access to import the logins by Vivaldi?
-
@DoctorG I got some passwors back. But a lot are missing.
For instance, for that same url https://lalejand.scenari-community.org/&
I get this on Brave:
(password present)
An this on Vivaldi:
(empty password) -
@DoctorG
How do you delete the login data ?
keyring management: not sure of anything, but I know I did not change any default config about that. -
When I import CVS file exported from Brave I get a lot of errors:
And then I can't click "OK" or anything. -
@lalejand The errors with URLs of logins are a known problem with all Chromium related browsers importing logins by CSV file.
-
Is there a way to delete all saved passwords on vivaldi?
-
@lalejand
The password file is called "Login Data" and is stored in
/home/user/.config/vivaldi/Default/
-
@lalejand Close Vivaldi
Start Terminal/Shell
Run command
rm "~/.config/vivaldi/Default/Login Data"
-
Great. Deleted all logins and imported again. Now my passwords are there
Thx a lot for your help!!! -
@lalejand Fine
