Terminal install creates 2 Vivaldi repos (Fedora)
-
After installing Vivaldi via the terminal using the commands listed here, I ended up with two repos in /etc/yum.repos.d.
The first one, vivaldi-fedora.repo appears during installation. The second one, vivaldi.repo, seems to be generated after initially launching Vivaldi.
After this, whenever I run updates, I get the warning Repository vivaldi is listed more than once in the configuration.
I've read a number of posts with complaints about the same issue. Is this a known bug? I've recreated the issue when building several VMs. It's always the same behavior. Which one should I delete? For now, I went with the consensus of deleting the vivaldi.repo, but I'm not sure it's the right one. Plus it's a nuisance.
System info:
Fedora 37/Cinnamon/fully updatedThanks

OK, such warnings are not serious and do not break a installation or update.
And what is the content of each file? If the same, then delete the file vivaldi-fedora.repo.
Seems the Vivaldi Vivaldi package maintainer has made a fault in naming the file.Chrome is more troublesome, it add all the time repo duplicates and causes warning for updates with dnf.

Thanks for getting back to me. The contents of the vivaldi.repo file are
[vivaldi]
name=vivaldi
baseurl=https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/rpm/x86_64
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/linux_signing_key.pubThe vivaldi-fedora.repo are
[vivaldi]
name=vivaldi
enabled=1
baseurl=https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/rpm/$basearch
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/linux_signing_key.pubThe install commands I'm using from the Vivaldi site are
*sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/vivaldi-fedora.repo
*sudo dnf install vivaldi-stable -y
So the install seems to want the vivaldi-fedora repo. The vivaldi repo is generated after the install is over and the app is launched.
Just for the heck of it, I uninstalled, and deleted both repos, and changed the first line to
*sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/vivaldi.repo
But that throws an error of...
Adding repo from: https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/vivaldi.repo
Status code: 404 for https://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/vivaldi.repo (IP: 151.101.193.91)
Error: Configuration of repo failedThanks

No problem. I'm really liking the browser, especially the customizable content blocking/filter lists. I don't know why that's never mentioned in reviews. Now if I can just get the menus in dark mode, it'll be great.
Anyways the bug report is in, VB-94093
Thanks for your help
