Video buffering in one window when separate window has javascript/canvas application (HWAcceleration enabled)
-
For the last couple of months, I've been been randomly having issues with video playback on youtube and other sites. Disabling hardware acceleration solves the problem, but I need it enabled to get video calls to work in Teams for example.
I've finally managed to narrow down the problem a bit. I have multiple monitors, so I usually have several separate Vivaldi windows open. If I'm playing a youtube video in one window, and have a food order being tracked in another window (wolt.com in my case), the youtube video immediately grinds to a halt and just keep loading, even if there is plenty buffered already. As soon as I switch to another tab instead of the order tracking, or minimize that window entirely, the video continues playing without issues.
Not sure exactly what is causing the problem. I suspect it could either be the live tracking map itself, or simply heavy use of javascript. I do know that the problem does not occur before I place an order, but does continue after the order is delivered (map still visible, but no longer updates in realtime.)
Also, disabling hardware acceleration also works, but disabling it for canvas only (using flag) does not. OOP canvas flag makes no difference. Having the different windows on the same monitor or not makes no difference.
Just thought I should put this information out there in case anyone else have similar issues. Unfortunately I don't have a good solution other than minimizing either the video or the map.

@imevul Please check Troubleshooting issues.
If that does not solve your issue, read Help us to reproduce the issue carefully, discuss in forum if issue is a bug and can be confirmed by others.
Then report issue to Vivaldi tracker. Once that is done, share the bug number (beginning with VB-). Thanks for helping us making Vivaldi better. -
Until I find other sites that interfere with video playback, I will only be able to try and reproduce it at most once per day. Can only order so much food! I know I've had the issue at other times as well, but since I didn't know what to look for, I didn't think to make note of which sites I had open at the time. If I manage to reproduce it more easily, or manage to find a solution, I'll post an update (or report it as a bug).
