Desktop Mode for foldable devices
-
A feature that I fail to see with any browser at the moment is the option to enable "always show desktop sites" for foldable phones. So when the phone is unfolded or in dex mode desktop sites are shown, and then when folded desktop sites can be deselected automatically. Without this option it becomes a hassle to reselect and deselect anytime I want to browse while in dex mode or in "tablet mode", definitely would be a welcomed feature and I hope to see it in the future.

This is a question that can be discussed.
I also have a foldable phone. Some of the sites I visit regularly, when using Vivaldi's mobile mode, deliberately block some content and direct you to its dedicated app. If I don't want to install too many apps, I want to still use desktop mode even when the phone is folded.
So I think that if the browser wants to increase the automatic detection of whether the phone is currently in an expanded or collapsed state, it should also give the user an option to allow the user to decide whether to automatically switch the desktop mode/mobile mode, instead of forcing a hard switch on their own.
Going further, I think app optimization on flexible screen mobile phones is a systematic project, which may require the entire industry ecology to evolve together. Neither software vendors nor hardware vendors can do it independently.
