My tip #1: disable tab's close button and only use middle click to close tabs
My tip #2: enable Middle click scrolling (aka autoscroll) on Linux by launching Vivaldi with
--enable-blink-features=MiddleClickAutoscroll

Here is a very rarely known trick to close current/active tab & go back to previous active tab regardless of your Close tab activation setting:
-
enable Minimized Active Tab
-
enable Close Tab on Double Click
Now if you close active tab by double click on it, you will always go back to the previous active tab (akin to recently used order behavior), even if you set Close Active Activation to Left/Right/Above/Below. So now you have at least 2 close tab behavior without resorting to Command Chains.

Could you provide your code please? Or which vivaldi tip you are referring to?
thanks. -

@stardust: Sounds pretty cool, can you explain maybe how to do this on Linux without launching it from terminal or using a desktop shortcut? (Zorin OS, Ubuntu based)

You mean from the menu? If you use Gnome install MenuLibre app and add to the Command field:
Not sure if MenuLibre works with KDE. Probably KDE has it's own menu config tool.
