Last week I introduced Close Tab & Switch to Above/Below Tab for Automate Vertical Tabbar, but it seem no one interested in it... LOL

But that's OK, this week I introduce something more applicable to most Vivaldi or EX-Opera user! 3 Chain Commands for Close tab & switch to Left (Above), Right (Below), Previous Recent, or Next Recent tab! 😎

      How to Command Chains?

      Please read this tutorial: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/shortcuts/command-chains/

      ReadMe

      1. First, go to Settings > Tabs > Close Tab Activation, select ONLY Activate in Recently Used Tab Order. Remember to also uncheck Always Activate Related Tab.

      2. Next, create 3 new CC with below formula:

        Close Tab to Above/Left Tab

        Close Tab to Below/Right Tab

        CTR.png

Close Tab to Next Recent Tab

      3. Finally, setup 3 new keyboard shortcut or mouse gesture with above CC:

Personally I use 1 & 2 for switch to left/right/above/below tab; 3 & 4 for switch to previous/next recent tab. Thus I setup Alt+1, Alt+2, Alt+3 (normal close tab) & Alt+4 for Close & switch to X tab, just like in good old Opera Presto.

      Quirk/Limitation

With this setup, you won't be able to access Always Activate Related Tab function, but you will gain 3 additional method to close & then switch tab. Another quirk is there will be a slight flickering when you close & switch to Left(Above) or Right(Below) tab, because Vivaldi will switch to Left(Above) or Right(Below) tab before closing current active tab. Yes, that's kinda like a hack... but it works! LOL

Oh, when you click X button or Ctrl+W to close current active tab, you will always switch to recently used (active) tab. That shouldn't be too confusing to remember, right?

Anyway, this is probably the most comprehensive control you can have over active tab after closing current active tab. Hopefully this CC tutorial can help you browse quicker & accomplished more with Vivaldi. 😉

Sorry, I'm currently hiatus from updating any of my CSS mod until further notice...
