How to change default file extension from jpeg to jpg?
-
A few months ago, when downloading JPEG images, the default file extension was changed from jpg to jpeg.
The E bothers me. How can I remove it? (both from filename and filter) -
@WiwaWusch Which Linux version and which Desktop?
Which Vivaldi version? -
@WiwaWusch Tested on Debian 11.4 KDE 5 Plasma.
After i opened a https://..../a.jpeg file, i could save as a.jpeg and the KDE file save dialog showed jpeg extension. -

@DoctorG uh? This is not a bug report, its a question for configuration.
JPEG and JPG are two names for the same thing, I just want to pick my favorite for this type of image.Vivaldi Version is 5.4.2753.45 (Stable channel) stable (64-Bit)

@WiwaWusch No configuration in Vivaldi exists to change this default file extension.
And for used Desktop Environments i do not know and i never had needed this. -
@WiwaWusch, the extension is dictated by that given to the file on the server. To confirm, does the issue persist when saving the following images:
-
JPEG
-
JPG

@yojimbo274064400 Open/Link Save as all nice on Linux with XFCE, GNOME and KDE, each file has its own file ending (.jpg and .jpeg) and the file save dialog shows the correct one.
