Cannot install Extensions from Chrome Web Store

I've been trying to install extensions from the Chrome Web Store a couple of times now. It still seems not possible. Whenever I click on the "Add to Chrome" Button, I get as far as a window to select a download location for the extension (crx file), and then I get a popup saying "An error has occurred. Download interrupted". As this message is somewhat uninformative, has anybody else experienced this and found a work around?

Hi, check Settings > Privacy if you disabled the important Google extensions, no Google service work without:

They're all enabled. Unless I have to disable Hangouts?

@tikacp Have you changed Settings > Security > Google Services & Chrome Webstore? /edit: Ah, you answered already.

May be some extension or proxy/VPN/security tool in your OS blocks the download.

tested in Debian 11.4 and Ubuntu 22.

You should use as few extensions as possible.
They can interfere with the operation of Vivaldi and represent a security vulnerability.

Thanks for the hint, however, I don't see how this is helpful regarding my question as to why I cannot install any extensions.

@tikacp For a test, try in shell with temporary profile (adding settings or extensions!):
vivaldi --user-data-dir="/tmp/VIVTEST"

If you can open Chrom Web Store, your profile is somewhere broken.

Fine for me with the tip, bad for you causing more work.

Any hint as to how to find out what's wrong with my current "real" profile?

1. Open profile folder
2. Copy folder Default to Default-BAK as a safety backup
3. Go into folder Default
4. Delete file Preferences [sorry, now you have some dataloss]
5. Start Vivaldi and make new settings
