Fixes for recent Windows issues – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2741.3
-
I was just getting used to not clicking the edges of the screen.
-
I managed to fix it by unpinning the mail tab and closing the window, the restarting.
-
@gif2d: That is unfortunate, I was hoping it would be fixed alongside this, do you have a bugreport on it? I'll try to see if I can get someone to look into it.
-
@pesala: If you are able to reproduce it, dont hesitate throwing up a bugreport!
-
@longlife: Maybe we could add it as a setting
-
excellent, all fixed, sorry for being a baby and rolling back last time it was a first for non crippling fault since 2015 but i have a very unhealthy fixation around the task bar, ive got everything from reg edit to powershell (dont ask we why) pinned there, i need help
-
@Aronand That would be great

This version of Chromium has some broken Metal support
chrome://flags/#use-angle needs to be set to 1 (default) (but you can't change it in Vivaldi if it is set to 2 (Metal as the graphics are broken), you need to edit:
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Vivaldi Snapshot/Local State (the path depends on where it is vivaldi://about/ lists where it is) open it in a text editing program with Vivaldi Snapshot closed and change chrome://flags/#use-angle from 2 to 1 and then save -

Speaking of the very useful setting that must be added - Middle-click Scrolling for Linux Version!
We found out yesterday, that there is an easy way to launch Vivaldi with
--enable-blink-features=MiddleClickAutoscroll
to enable Middle-click Scrolling
Please add this option into Vivaldi flags

Oh well, no fix for URL selected on opening new tabs... I was really hoping for one, as it's extremely annoying to have to focus web page on every link opened in new tab. I have a hotkey of course (Alt+A) but if I forget, it starts showing history instead...
(VB-90575) Unchecking "Focus Page Content on New Tab" causes links opened in new tab to have URL focused instead of page.
And no, it's not fixed by "Focus page content on new tab". I need Start Page to have URL bar focus to start typing, opened links should not have focus. Hopefully on Friday...

@Pathduck This is not the way. Opening a new tab and typing in the address field is for pedestrians. Become motorized with quick commands!
-
@luetage I don't need a workaround, I need a regression fix
-
@Pathduck I disagree. It’s not a workaround, quick commands are an integral part of Vivaldi. You can mess around in the address field in any browser and it’s a bad experience no matter which browser you use. The address field is for displaying addresses, not searching the web. Alas, Vivaldi gives you the option to and this bug should be fixed of course, but that doesn’t take away from the fact the issue shouldn’t bother you to begin with. Moreover you could always search with the address field of the current tab and open the result in a new tab with your chosen modifier key (shift/alt).

bug:desktop icon is broken again. I fixed it in previous build but after install this version, it broke it again. But I've figured out how to easily fix it
right click desktop icon
the start in:currently only show .
change this to C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application
then go to change icon and change to browse to
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\Application
select the icon, then okay then click apply -
Some more contrast would be nice:
-
@luetage This has really nothing to do with opening a new tab for searching, or even opening bookmarks/history. It's about opening new tabs with links from web pages.
I almost always open links in the background, and the URL field is focused. This is the bug. There's nothing Quick Command can do about that.
I like QC though, I try to use it more and more. But 20+ years of browser habits are hard to change

You're declaring some law never written before here. You use what you want.
I'm used to it and I don't intend to change my habits. -
For some reason now I can't interact with the Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons.
Nvm, seems like an issues with the css modifications I had made. -
