@nvelasquez
Hi, I don´t use meet but didi you disable one of the Google extensions in vivaldi://settings/privacy/ ?Cheers, mib

@mib2berlin said in Google Meet fail camera and microphone:
vivaldi://settings/privacy/
all extensions was enabled when was the problem, i tested disable all but the problem continue
-
@nvelasquez Have you actually allowed the site to access your mic and camera? If you click the "Configuracion" link it will probably give you a guide on how to do so.

Are others similar services working good? Zoom on browser, Jitsi Meet, Microsoft Team? You can try the link of Jitsi Meet, no need of subscription or anything.
Do you see your camera on this link? -
Doesn't work, this only happens in vivaldi (other based chromium web browser work well), i'll reinstall browser and test again
-
@nvelasquez Understand. This test works very well with my Vivaldi. What say the little camera icon on the right of the address bar?
What operating system are you using? Can you double-check if Vivaldi do have the permission to access to the camera and microphone?
Here is a procedure to do this check on Windows. -
yes this icon appears, i use windows 10 and maybe the last windows update broke the camera access (i received some hp hardware update too), i don't know but i only know is happens in vivaldi
-
@nvelasquez A good site for testing mic and camera is this:
https://webcammictest.com
You need to allow the site to access your mic and camera.I have no problem using Google Meet in Vivaldi so I know it works. I also use an old (2012 model) HP laptop.

@mib2berlin The first thing I did when setting up Vivaldi, just now, was get rid of everything Google I could see a setting for. I'll have to remember to temporarily enable again when I'm forced to use Googe Meet for work. Alternatively, download and install Chrome, use if for Google Meet, and then uninstall it. I missed 4 training sessions using Pale Moon, which didn't show me the entire Google Meet page. Missing was the crucial sign-in line. If one has never used Good Meet before, How would one know? Incidentally, I ONLY ditched Pale Moon because Google is cripple advancements (by PM and others) so that it can be dominant because those are their values.

Hi,
You can Use Chrome from PortableApps.com - Windows - and keep it for the needed situations without :down_button:
-
I suppose so. Either way is fine by me. It takes seconds to download and install.
-
@Ybra
Hi, may you can use a second profile for Meet with Google extensions enabled.
I don´t make tests about but if you not open a new instance of Vivaldi it should not interact with Google using your default profile.
I use an Android device so also use some Google services but it is cool you have a setting in Vivaldi to disable these services. Other Chromium browser use it if you like it or not.
Portable Chrome on an USB stick is a good idea.Cheers, mib
-
Thanks! Why is the portable route better than the temp download and install route, if I may ask?
-
@Ybra
It´s not better but stick in, start app, stop app, remove is seams easier for me.
By the way, an app does nothing if not started, at least Vivaldi does not.
Use a different profile or a standalone install of Vivald and you are fine.Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin Acknowledged. Thanks.
-
Uninstall the browser and do a clean installation and it worked, I still don't know why the error occurred
