Getting error 12301.
Been getting errors for few versions. I don't mind manual updating, but a fix would be nice. Is the issue known? Any useful details I could provide?
-
@infosrefanvlad I presume that you are seeing this on Windows. Did you make any changes to your proxy server settings, and do you see any connectivity problems when using either IE or Edge?
-
Still getting address bar flashing with Tab Display>Page Load Progress>Progress Bar enabled while tabs are loading.
Still getting broken tab blur with tabs at bottom and status bar.
Tab dragging with Minimize Active Tab still broken.
Stray line between tabs at bottom and status bar still present.
Still missing old tab dragging, tab stacking delay option, custom tab background option.
I still need to keep a note log with issues and VB numbers as they arise. Should only point out issues others did not point out this version or serious UX issues like, um, well, new tab dragging.At least now the new tab button has proper contrast, speed dial folders/tiles are consistent, I got no more tab gaps, menus got improved, we got panel fixes and context menus in second tab bar. And Chromium.
-
@infosrefanvlad Looks like you updated successfully. Do you still see an error message when you try to check for updates?
-
Yes, I fell back on W7 until I fix my Mint (long story). No setting changes. Should test the URL on IE, just for the sake of it.
No, no error when checking. Only on auto update. Updating manually works. Always did.
Should test it all and buy a new kb tomorrow. Mouse typing during dead Android device battery is slow torture.
-
@infosrefanvlad Okay, thanks. The reason why I asked is that I think that the Vivaldi updater connects through the Windows Internet proxy. If you have a proxy server configured or misconfigured, that could cause the updater to break.

The new adding bookmarks interface seems a bit less intuitive to me.
On a web page, when you click the 'add bookmark' icon in the addressbar, the page is automatically saved in your bookmarks folder.
The one-click addition, I think is okay. But, it doesn't seem like you can set a default folder for adding a bookmark. Personally, I tend to add something to Speed Dial first, and then deal with additional organization later. It would be nice if Vivaldi, either had an option to set the default location that the bookmark is added. I think previously, Vivaldi would remember the last location. At the very least, the new interface should provide some indication of where the bookmark was created, or where it is currently located. I added a bunch of new bookmarks and they sort of got lost because I didn't realize they where they were being created.
The new interface does provide the option to move a bookmark to another folder, including the Speed Dial, which is good. But if I use the interface to move the newly added bookmark to the Speed Dial, the new bookmark gets added to the first location. I think it should be added to the last location in the selected folder. Particularly for the Speed Dial, which I would assume most users organize for quick access and dumping a new bookmark in the first location messes up that organization.
-
@ugly If you do not choose the folder, the bookmark is saved in the root folder, which seems logical to me. If you want to choose a folder it takes a few more clicks. Adding the active tab to a folder on the bookmark bar is easier, but it still needs editing and moving. The Add Bookmark dialog lets you do that all at once and to create new folders.
If you clicked to open the dialog in error, just click on the Trash Can to delete the new bookmark.
I almost never save new bookmarks to my Speed Dial, so for me it would better if the dialog default to Bookmarks. Defaulting to the last-used folder might be more efficient or not, depending on a user's workflow.

@guigirl
.BookmarkPopup-LocationSelector {height: 400px;}

The root bookmarks directory as a default is probably logical.
I think the key would be to provide some indication of which folder the bookmark is currently located.

@rseiler @guigirl The description looks to be wrong. The setting is actually a new keyboard shortcut which you can now set.
I agree that the settings around this can be a bit confusing and hopefuly they are reworked to be clearer. "Open Tabs in Current Tab Stack" affects links that you open while in a tab within a tab stack. e.g. middle-clicking a link will open it inside the tab stack if the setting is enabled, but outside if it's disabled.

Thanks. The thing is, what afaik multiple Vivaldians [including me] would like, is a method [eg, context-menu option] by which we can temporarily override our global setting of
Open Tabs in Current Tab Stack
, such that a standard left- or middle-click on a link in a tab within a stack will continue to work as you described, BUT OTOH for that relatively less common occasion where we want clicking that same link to launch the new tab as a standard unstacked standalone tab [i envisage on such occasions, right-clicking the link & clicking the [atm non-existent] optionOpen standalone tab from this link
]. Then we'd truly have our cake & eat it.That's fair. Feel free to create a feature request for that if there isn't one already.
In the meantime, you could set up a keyboard shortcut for "remove from tab stack", so you have a quick way to remove the tab from the current stack. This is what I do at the moment.

[BUG] remove 'start page navigation' from 'speed dial bar'. right click bookmark/history/notes. , right click stops working everywhere. VB-78673
Hah, indeed! I had this problem before but couldn't find a way to trigger it again.
A few things I'd like to clarify because I didn't understand them at first:
- In Speed Dial settings set "Speed Dial Appearance" to "Show Title when Needed".
- Then on the Speed Dial page right click Bookmarks, History or Notes.
As a workaround you can right click on anything in another Vivaldi window and it works again in the original window.
Vivaldi x64, Windows 8.1
edit: Actually, I don't need to change the Speed Dial settings at all, it also "works" with "Always show Title"
-
Um... Excuse me?
Aha, now you are moving my tabs at the top deliberately ! This is absolutely diabolical!

@infosrefanvlad Please report a bug: https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
(To find stuff like this is exactly what Snapshots are for) -
@Pathduck Of course. Reported as VB-78683.

The new
add bookmark
dialog box is a terrible use of space. The folder selection dropdown being replaced by a box that only shows 4 lines at a time is cumbersome to say the least. I also don't find this box with a drop shadow inside of a box very aesthetically pleasing. The previous dialog box with the large thumbnail utilized it's space much betterI preferred the previous behavior of saving bookmarks, now it saves to a location before I actually select where I want it to go. Before I could save a page to a new location by just resaving it using the bookmark button. Now it saves another bookmark to a new location instead of moving it.
Though this started with the previous snapshot as far as I know, but saving all that description (which really isn't a description) by default now is bloating up the bookmarks file. As does the multiple duplicates that can now be saved for the same page.
All these undesirable changes and folders are still unsorted.

The Embed and Go function is very unstable.
When you press the standard keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + Shift + V", the address from the clipboard in the address bar is added to the end of the address of the current page. It navigates to the wrong URL and displays a URL error message.
The function works correctly after restarting the browser for a while, then it stops working. -

.BookmarkPopup-LocationSelector {height: 400px;}
If you increase the box size, you'll also need to add this
.button-popup { max-height: unset !important; }
There is a max height set and the border around the dialog box will not extend beyond that setting otherwise

@sjudenim Haven’t seen any issues yet, but I’ll keep it in mind.
