Playing DRM videos doesnt work (Native M1)
-
I get errors when trying to play DRM (widevine) videos (netflix/primevideo/disney+). Is this a limitation for apple silicon macs? Or is there a way to fix this? When trying to update widevine on vivaldi://components it stays on version 0.0.0.0.0
Any ideas?

Hi,
Welcome to Vivaldi's Forums! What's the error messages apart from WeDevine?
Try on a New

Rename it as Tests or something related, and use it as a Clean Profile, to test without custom configurations that can alter the original operation.
Since the result, check:

Or fill in a Bug Report and please, add the VB# to the topic for follow up.

Ok, so after a couple of times switching (closing/opening) between profiles I was able to update Widevine, it now states: Widevine Content Decryption Module - Versie: 4.10.2198.0.
It actually works perfectly fine now. In fact, it works better in Vivaldi than it does in Edge; Edge loads an intel helper process when playing DRM, Vivaldi is fully native ARM. Nice one!
Initially Widevine wouldnt update (it staid at version 0.0.0.0), so that does seem like bug to me...
The initial bugreport I filed: VAB-3579

Good,
Sometimes,
Profiles gets messed, it may was the reason.
Let's see whether other users faces the same Update problem. For now, at least it's fixed.

@Zalex108 This was a clean install... So it would be weird if it was a profile issue. I waited installing Vivaldi untill the native Apple Silicon build was available...
The bugreport number actually was: VB-77989

Oh,
Right. If VAB-3579 is fixed and VB-77989 replaces about just WeDevine even as Clean Profile, you can reply to the VAB-3579 email and Inform about to cancel it and continue on the new one.
Good choice to wait when possible.
