How to disable spell check?
-
Hi, I did search this forum for "disable spell check" because I couldn't figure out how to, and yes, I saw that some other users have already asked this same question. But still, I found no thread with a working answer. Some answers mentioned selecting "base spell check" in the menu that popups when clicking a spell-checked word, but in my case, that option just doesn't show in the menu.
I tried language settings as advised by some other users, but that didn't help either.
So, perhaps someone can tell me where (using Vivaldi 3.5.2115.73 x64) the developers have hidden this option? To me, using Dutch language on an English-language UI system, it's fairly essential to just completely disable spell checking, everywhere.
Thanks whoever-you-are for your help! -
@henks Go to
chrome://settings/languages
from address bar or Quick Commands and untickSpell check

@hlehyaric Thank you so much, this worked! I'm a bit confused though, for this seems to be a very different settings page from what I get when from the main menu bar I just go to Tools - Settings. In that ordinary settings page, there is no spell check on-off toggle. In those settings you even get no result when you search for "spell check".
So now it looks like there are two very different settings pages in Vivaldi, a basic one (the one I tried in vain) and a more extended one (that you led me to, which does have the spell check option).
Strange... But thanks anyway! -

Incorporating all the settings/options into Vivaldi is an on-going process.

@henks There are two sets of settings: Vivaldi's own settings and Chromium's. Unfortunately, there are no unified settings yet.
I'd suggest you bookmark
