Vivaldi browser introduces Break Mode: the new way to pause the Internet
-
Hi. #BUG here. If u try to use the check in address bar in settings to remove the address bar in private mode the app crashes out completely. And the option won't work. I actually want to suggest that u design an auto-hide address bar and tabs specially in private mode. Something like the auto-hide of windows XP and etc... . And u can design a a Presentation mode for online teachers who have to sometimes open a browser on the online presentation or at an ordinary pre-covid-era class seminar to show something to the audience but not willing to let them see the rest of their browsing details like tabs and etc... . .
just found ctrl+click does not copy anything but goes to the highlighted part of the link instantly.
Why does it delete my last line when I edit my post here??
lykke til

@swordz: That's a massive can of worms. On Windows, Netflix uses Microsoft's PlayReady DRM which is an Edge-only feature. Widevine, the DRM Google uses, isn't trusted by Netflix for 1080p and higher playback. I don't know much about it.

@Ruarí hey. just so you know, when you upvote comments on the blog, the upvote icon doesn't turn green. and comments on the forum aren't laid out nicely like they are on the blog.

Address Bar has a bug,sometimes it can't edit, can't delete,can't input...

Hey, so is there anything I can do to disable the "what's new" tab? I already look at the release notes in the update dialog before updating, and if I want to know more, I can look at the blog. I really hate it when browsers open up tabs without me telling them to. I wanted to turn the behavior off, but I couldn't find anything in the settings page for turning off the "What's new" tab. Is there a hidden setting somewhere? If not, please add some sort of setting because I do not want tabs opening up without my permission like this.
I don't recall it doing this in the past, but it seems to have suddenly started with the 3.3 update, so this seems to be a new behavior.

great as always, Vivaldi team!
small bug report: when you click pause, it does not hide the side toolbar (the one with shortcuts for webpanels). I can not paste an image here, but this is easily verifiable and prabably easy to solve as well.
kepp up the good work! cheers

Woweee... This is awesome and cool...
Asusual vivaldi has rocked with new features... Very happy... -
Please, add edit context menu customization options, vivaldi is an amazing browser, but at this point the context menu is practically unusable due to how bloated it is. I know that's not the right place to comment, but maybe someone will read that. You guys have an amazing thing going on, just don't forget that customization is your bread and butter.

OK I am having a hectic morning, just need Vivaldi to work, and it goes into "break mode." For most of us who don't post on browser forums, our main anxiety about computers is that they will suddenly and inexplicably stop working. Usually this is due to some oversight (Windows update messages during powerpoint presentations are my favorite example). In this case it is a new feature. I would be happy if I could just turn off break mode forever but I could not find that option. Now I have to remember that I may accidentally hit control period and how to recover. This is the kind of strange developer decision that led me to switch from Firefox in the first place.

@vodavi Open settings, search for break and delete the shortcut or replace it with one of your own that is harder to use by accident.

The URL crop option is a great idea, and the long domain warning is a nice touch, too. One very slight issue with the latter is that if someone mouses-over the warning triangle but immediately clicks it (because they expect a message to drop down from it on click), the hover tooltip doesn't show up (at least on MacOS).
Also, the following probably counts as a pretty minor edge case, so I don't know if you'd care, but I noticed that the warning triangle may not appear if there's just one single letter (or the domain-terminating slash) cut off, so both
"superduperverysecureprocessing.someeexamplebank.com/"
and
"superduperverysecureprocessing.someeexamplebank.co/"
can appear as
"superduperverysecureprocessing.someeexamplebank.co...."
at just the right window width, with no warning. -
Hi everyone,
First of all, a big thank you to all the developers and Vivaldi team members who've made this great browser possible. I enjoy so many things about it...
I loved Break Mode too but why not hide every bit of private content then? I think:
What do you think?

@gwen-dragon:
What about the port number? localhost:8080/bla/subdir/here
clicking on subdir part of this path redirects me to localhost/bla/subdir (port 80) -
@Catweazle Which is it? When I change the Foreground color, the icons do change, but so does all the text (which I obviously don't want). Or am I not in the right place?
-
@MoosMas You can’t do that in settings, it’s a custom modification.
-
-
@Catweazle Share your theme and the mystery will be solved ^^
edit: your foreground color is green, that's why your content blocker icon is green. The site info icon is green by default. The content blocker icon color cannot be changed without changing the foreground color and the site info button cannot be changed at all with the help of the theme engine. As said, only possible with a custom modification. -
@Catweazle Oh I see, your text is green as well. I thought you only had the icons in green and black text.
-
@luetage Where can you make custom modifications?
