Ignoring multiple selected topics
-
Now that the number of users is +/- 124,500, it becomes more and more difficult to have an easy follow-up of the messages that are posted on the forum. If you skip one day of forum, you directly get the +99 pop-up above the Unread button which is discouraging...
The aim is to have our Unread dashboard easier to keep clean and tidy.Of course, it is already possible to filter the messages we want to see on our forum dashboard.
But, unfortunately, when we want to ignore certain topics, the only choice we have is to go into the post to be able to Ignore it one by one :
I would suggest to have that same possibility directly available from the Unread dashboard itself where we could select different topics and ignore them simultaneously (like we do with Selected in the Mark as Read drop-down menu) : -
Maybe hide the unread indicator. Unread topics are just that – unread: Maybe I want to read them in the future, probably not. What's interesting is notifications to topics you replied to and topics created by people you follow, mostly. Reading every last Vivaldi Forum post is an impossible task, if you do anything else but reading Vivaldi Forum all day. Not sure ignoring everything is the solution – although for some specific topics and of course most of the local forum board ignoring is of course the way to go.
edit: also I made peace with my 99+ : D

@luetage Of course. I understand your point of view and the goal is certainly not to ignore most of the topics.
I like to keep an eye on the new topics that are posted but, because there are a lot of discussions on the forum, it is quite difficult to follow.
Also, I don't want to reduce my readings to the ones I intervened on or the ones posted by users I follow.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your personal experience (nice to know how others are handling their forum readings). -
@Ornorm Maybe you could read posts you are interested in and mark others as ‹read›.
-
@hlehyaric This is indeed what I do for the moment but, if someone reactivates that post by replying to it, it comes back... and back... and back...
That is why I thought having the Ignoring possibility could have an added value to the user's experience on the forum. -
@Ornorm That's what I do too and it's not very handy, but right now, it's the only workaround that I know of (hence I upvoted your request).

I would like to see this option, too. I don't want to turn off the unread indicator, I just want to ignore a topic once I know I'm not interested in it.

@potmeklecbohdan Yes, exactly. Doing it one topic at a time is a pain in the butt.
