1. Your settings only produce GET not POST results, ie, your search-terms are visible in the results url [ie, "publicly" visible]

2. If you want some private search suggestions, paste in the DDG s/s url.

The browser stats for the most used search engines are shockingly one-sided.

We have a very long way to go before search engines that respect privacy are taken seriously.

I now use Ecosia, and only resort to Google occasionally. My other engines are for specific tasks: Buddhist texts, acronyms, dictionaries, NHS health information, Wikipedia, YouTube, or my own website.

@Pesala That’s no surprise, metasearch engines use crawler engines as basis. Ecosia isn’t a real search engine. That means every search done with Ecosia will still produce a hit on Bing, or whatever they use.

Used to use Qwant, but i did not like the search results.
Moved to Duck,Duck, Go - for several years and like its search result, but ​i learned I'm not in agreement with some of the groups they contribute donations to.
Now i use Start Page. I like that it has an option to search via UK servers which offer more protection than its US servers. I don't do anything the US government would need to look at, but i no longer trust our governments lack of transparency, privacy laws, and the lack of court accountability.

I rlly like the ethical means behind it, but I dont think personalisation is completely bad.
I wanna find the things I like anyways, a little help wont hurt. Of course overly spying on me, to the point when I say baby 5 times in a row google wants to give me birth help, is creepy. But its nice when some anime themed stuff is at the top.

But since these nice programmers who made vivaldi have to live of something and it helps our environment, ig I´ll just use ecosia. (btw, sorry for destroying the 69 comment count)

@janrif , not longer use this search.disconnect, me, it's not trustworth because of some ugly telemetries to Amazon.

Most I use now are Andi and Whoogle
