❤️ Whitelisting Vivaldi.net - A way to support Vivaldi
-
By default, I have an adblocker active on most of the sites I visit.
Unfortunately, I didn't know having that adblocker active on Vivaldi forum did impeach Vivaldi to collect valuable data.
I did blame myself for an hour now because of this...I'm pretty sure there are thousands of users like me who are willing to support Vivaldi but who are not aware of the fact whitelisting Vivaldi's websites (the Vivaldi forum is a good example) is also a way to support their favorite browser.
Therefore, I open this thread to open a discussion on, according to you, the best way to communicate that important information without having an annoying banner.
For example, @Hadden89 proposes to have this added in the privacy page. It's indeed a good idea which isn't invasive but it could also be too hidden for standard users.
Other suggestions could be :- a small and light message on the top of the forum
- a small icon (a heart? a Vivaldi logo transformed into a heart? something else) that, when hovered, would just show that kind of small message (less invasive)
- something added in the Community rules (not as a rule but just a kind of "last word")
- A pinned post in a dedicated section of the forum
Would you have other ideas to share about this?
Thanks in advance for your contribution. -
It will be hard to find the article where Jon talks about built-in ad blocker on Vivaldi
-

@lamarca The objective is not to have an ad-blocker in Vivaldi. The objective is to ask the users who have an ad-blocker installed to whitelist Vivaldi.
Edit : I did change the title accordingly. -
@ornorm That's What I understood. The replies is about your subject.

Better than asking people to disable vivaldi specifically on this site would be to figure out why the ad blockers were preventing the 1st party analytics to begin with.
-
@lonm It's third party, they are using another server.
-
@luetage oh. I didn't realise. uBlock origin didn't list the 3rd party server for me.
-
@lonm Hmm, yeah you're right, it isn't listed anymore. I'm almost entirely sure it used to be listed. Then it's probably just easylist blocking piwik. Doesn't really matter.
