Solved Support Extensions
-
@Catweazle Only browser extensions (like Violentmonkey and Stylus) allow you to improve websites, not apps.
Therefore I've been using Kiwi for years. -
@jesus2099, depends of what you mean with improving websites
-
@Catweazle
When possible, adding useful features, bug workarounds, etc. without waiting for devs.The raison d'être of userscripts.

@Catweazle said in Support Extensions:
the question is which Backdoors leaves EDGE open, with so much DIY and pre-select extensions. I think I prefer to make use of the good number of apps available in F-Droid for security and privacy, which more than make up for the lack of browser extensions, apart from that Vivaldi already has a built-in ad/trackerblocker.
Firefox for Android already uses extensions. And guess what: the sky didn't fall in on it. But I'm sure the god of browsers will punish them for this audacity! How dare they!
Honestly, what user wants to use a modern browser that makes him more productive and the work with the browser meets his/her needs?! Nonsense. For example: I don't need my phone's browser to read me the news when I've locked my phone and when I have locked my phone and am listening to the news on my headphones, nor to summarize a text/article for me. This is also the nonsense of spoiled consumers!

@ivan-a-petkov actually nothing is written in the stone. I recall also the native adblocker was tagged as WILLNOTDO years ago
-
Any news on this? I'm waiting for it to switch from Firefox to Vivaldi on my phone...
uBlock Origin is really useful, is there any feature on mobile Vivaldi that could do something similar? (content blocker so browser don't load in page ads and the likes)

We should request Extensions support for Android at Chromium feedback
-
@greendotbluebox They're removing MV2 support in desktop Chromium to combat adblockers. No chance would they add extension support to finally make it possible on mobile.

"Google is testing a new version of Chrome for Android with extensions support"
Never, ever,.... Solved.
Don't innovate, just follow the stream!Finally, every major browser will have extensions. Including Vivaldi.

I read somewhere that Google is doing this for Chromebook version of Chrome. I have no hopes about it coming for android chrome... It's too much tracking and ad for Google to give up... I bet it will never come to android chrome engine.
If I had to guess I would put my hopes on another mobile browser getting extensions before android Chrome.
