Chromium 70 update – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1322.4
-
Issue with last 2 snapshots... If you use the Forward or Back mouse buttons to navigate, then click outside Vivaldi, the click outside is eaten by Vivaldi even though the mouse pointer is over another window or the desktop. You have to click again to get focus away from Vivaldi.
New issue: Some pages don't render after loading. Restart Vivaldi, go to https://news.google.com .
After the loading is complete, the page is blank until I click somewhere on the page. https://forum.vivaldi.net did the same thing. Once the page renders, it will render again in a new tab just fine.Fedora 28 - Xfce.

I'm unable to reproduce any of your issues here:
- Forward/Back navigation mouse buttons cause Vivaldi to lose its focus when pressed while the cursor is away from Vivaldi window.
- Opening those two pages (after restarting Vivaldi) doesn't cause any of them to become "blank". You either provided not enough details to reproduce this, or there is just something in your setup that causes this...
Snapshot 1322.4 (64-bit) on Windows 10 ver. 1803, x64.

@pafflick It's not reliable, but it's real. I've seen it on Google sites and on the Forum. Page loads and only the background canvas can be seen. Go to another tab and return, and page contents are there. Unfortunately, I can't produce it reliably. And my setup is as vanilla as they come. No extensions, no flags, no 3rd party software. Now I have not seen it in a few days on the internal versions, so something may have fixed it. But I was definitely seeing it last week.
-
@ayespy Alright, I have only tried it a couple times. My Snapshot is also pretty much at "factory" state, but I don't use it too often. I keep it mainly for testing purposes. If that's a random issue, then it might be the reason why I haven't encountered it yet...
-
@pafflick It is somewhat random. And just now, two more users posted about in on new threads, by coincidence.

Another change from previous snapshot is the Youtube videos opened with middle click in a background tab start playing. They didn't do that in the past. Tabs also don't seem to hibernate on their own.
Can this behavior be changed? I liked how I could open a few Youtube videos and they'd start playing once I went to their tab. This new behavior would force me to pause each video.
More info on this.
- if I open a video (middle click) in background tab from Youtube itself (right bar of Recommended/Up Next), it starts to play in the background tab. Not good.
- if I open a YT video from a Twitter post the same way, it opens in a background tab, does not start to play and the tab shows the "unread" mark on the top right corner
Hope it's helpful towards isolating and fixing this.

@t0yz: same issue here. I hope this can be fixed as it's super annoying at the moment.
-
@t0yz I have the same issue with tabs loading but not showing content until you click on another tab first. Very annoying.
-
@tomzorz It's getting a lot of attention.

@ayespy I filed a bug some time ago:
(VB-41997) Slow loading of some localhost web pages
That is still the same, and I see a new problem on loading my home page, which is a local text file.
file:///O:/Documents/ToDo.txt
If it has been loaded once (switching tabs works), then it loads quickly as before. That is not the case with my local host HTML file, which always takes about 20 seconds to load. That is really weird because very similar local host pages from the same locally published website all load without delay.
Switching tabs, does not speed up loading for my HTML local page. I can browse my local site, but as soon as I arrive back at the problem page, the delay occurs again.

@t0yz Same issue here
Windows 10 64bit (build 17763.1)
-
@mrprobs: Same here on OpenMandriva Lx 3. Tested also on Mageia5 and Mageia6. Same issue. Package fonts-ttf-liberation-2.00.1-12-omv2015.0.noarch installed.
-
@an_dz: Well, I think much faster and simpler is change Vivaldi spec, than asking few distro - all Mandriva derivates (OpenMandriva, Mageia, ROSA, PCLinuxOS, ALT Linux) for change naming system for this package. To be honest, changing the name of this package would require rebuilding many other packages and performing Q/A tests - for which the creators of these distributions will not agree for no apparent reason. Faster and better (in my opinion) is change Vivaldi spec for e.g. like this
%if %mdvver > 201500
BuildRequires: XYZ
BuildRequires: XYZ1.2
Requires: fonts-ttf-liberationif 0%{?suse_version} > 1320
BuildRequires: XYZ
Requires:

Well, of course now I can't reproduce the blank page issue.
The issue with stealing mouse clicks I can reproduce at will.
Rename ~/.config/vivaldi-snapshot to get it out of the way.
Open vivaldi-snapshot
Skip the intro.
Visit a page of your choice.
Use the mouse "Back" button to go back a page.
Move the mouse pointer to any other window on your desktop.
Left click.
For me, the "other window" does not get focused and Vivaldi stays focused.
Left click again and the "other window" now gets focus and Vivaldi looses focus.
If you don't use the Forward or Back mouse buttons in Vivaldi before clicking on another window, the focus change is immediate. This is Fedora 28 and XFCE.
I'll file an issue for this one.Filed VB-44524

A suggestion: When using "Capture Page" tool to take a snapshot of a webpage, could the captures be named starting with a timecode, say YYYY-MM-DD-HHNNSS-randomneshere.png, the time at the start anyway would be very welcome.

I'm getting crashes when right clicking on links when a page is opened in "app" mode...
$ vivaldi-snapshot --app=https://mail.google.com
When I right click on any link, Vivaldi crashes with[Fri Oct 5 12:58:14 2018] traps: vivaldi-bin[25195] trap int3 ip:562634d7fc44 sp:7fffd5005250 error:0 in vivaldi-bin[56263282e000+64fb000]
I've got coredumps galore (but with no debug info of course) and will open an issue.
Anyone else?

[Regression] Google sign-in cookies are being set in Vivaldi and cannot be cleared (VB-44108)
I still have these Google sign-in cookies
