Find and highlight multiple words in multiple colors...
-
Please add a checkbox option for "multi-word" for "find in page", which finds and highlights multiple words in multiple colors. It should also support partial words, not just whole words. Like in the example screenshot from Maxthon 2 web browser.
Example extension...

@tsunamiz Yeah that is one of my biggest problem with all browsers. There are some extensions for this, but almost none of them works correctly. efTwo was the best of ever but it discontinued. You can try these below. It would be a huge adventage for vivaldi if devs add this feature.

@TzunamiZ, just a kind request. Please check whether you've submitted similar (or exactly equal) bugs or feature requests to Vivaldi's bug system before. You are filing a very large number of duplicates of yourself, which I don't find a useful mechanism to prioritize requests.
-
any feedback that i resubmit are updated ones, and they are meant to replace the older ones. the vivaldi team already gets a lot of duplicate bug reports by other people so they are already experienced at managing duplicates. and i do put a lot of thought into my feedback before submitting them, to minimize the chance of needing to update them.
-
I see.
I believe bug reporters nowadays get a confirmation by mail, which can also be used to send updated information. I think that method has a better chance of getting all relevant information for one bug in a central place. Wwhen reports are closed as duplicates, there's no guarantee that any specific information in them is read by a developer working on the master bug. -
replying to my old feedback submissions to update them doesn't work so well. what i need to do is rewrite the feedback and title as part of my update so it is simply one cohesive, concise, and clear read. which is similar to how i update my forum topics, by updating the first post and title. and again, the vivaldi team is already experienced at managing duplicate bug reports by other people, so you don't have to worry about it.
now let's focus back on the topic of this thread.

Hell yea, this would be a great addition to core
I've been using a regex extension forever
Regards
-
I would appreciate this myself and I'm sure that many powerusers would too.
-
@Sebastian69 Don't forget to give a thumbs up to the first post to cast your vote for this feature request.
-
Note from dev team: The "multiple colours" part of this request is a "will not do" as that is too much controlled by chrome upstream code.
-
updated first post with a new example extension, to show that the multiple colors part is doable.

I have made a lightweight cross-browser extension, Mark My Search, which provides this functionality and many more features. You can find it on any of these stores if you're interested:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mark-my-search/lijbnhoniejpjjgemoifpjklobhakinb
https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/mark-my-search/pgkppfodndbpalojpibdnlcdfcnidemj
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/mark-my-search/In many ways it is the spiritual successor to SearchWP, and so far the closest alternative I have seen. I posted about it in more detail here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/28848/add-firefox-s-searchwp-functionality-to-vivaldi-s-search-field/16
