Scheduled system downtime (21 March 2018), and updating mailbox settings
-
@steffie Still missing lot's of e-mails and, after checking the settings, still can't send any e-mails (Thunderbird shows an smtp error). Can receive e-mails however.
-
Hey, guys! Since the sys admin has to work on each mailbox separately, restoring the emails can take time. But everyone who has contacted us on Support has been added to the list and we'll do our best to restore all the missing emails.
We'll also try to let everyone know, when the mail should be back, but you can check your mailbox every now and then, should we not manage to reply fast enough.
Thank you for your patience! -

You have changed your SMTP settings in TB since the maintenance ... like was specified in the opening post of this thread, & shown in one of my pics ... haven't you? If you have done it, then the V team will need to advise. If you have not done it, then of course you cannot send now.
I see you said...
after checking the settings
What does "checking" mean? Did you actually change them, as now required?
-
Hi! I also lost some emails beginning around March 15th. I've already sent an email to the support team and I wait to see the results. Thanks for your effort!
-
My folders have disappeared and I get email protected from message that contained email addresses. When will it be back to normal?
-
It would be nice if mail.vivaldi.net had a "Remember me" feature when logging in. It's annoying to have to enter my details every time.
-
@joelyoung It does remember my username and password, but it would be better if it would log-in automatically.
-
@steffie Indeed, I did change the SMTP settings as specified and did an extra check to see if the settings were correct. The problems I had with my emailaccount, missing mail messages (and TB) are, thanks to jane.n , solved now.
-
@pesala Odd... when I go there the fields are blank, and I have to input everything again.
-
The notification box at the top of the page announcing system down time is blocking the buttons to write new emails, delete, etc. This is on mobile. Thanks
-
sorry for creating a new topic... no privileges to delete it now...
I also lost all my emails after 8th of March, any chance of restoring them, please? Thanks, L

@nss00 You can only use Vivaldi 1.0 on XP.
The development for XP was stopped by Chromium devs.Good. It's started. However problem: I Open three tabs with addresses of web pages, at switching of tabs Vivaldi 1.0 starts repeated loading of pages. How to fix it?
The fact that XP is no longer supported does not say that XP Professional is not used on weak or medium computers
-
@nss00 Yep, but those users should switch to other operating systems. At this point it is negligent to still run XP, because of the lack of security updates. If your computer can't handle supported versions of Windows, switch to Linux – many distributions specialise in old/slow hardware and still get updates regularly.

I'm using Thunderbird 52.6 in Linux Mint 18.3. Using the new settings, I can receive posts but cannot connect to the SMTP server. Settings are:
Server Name: smtp.vivaldi.net
Port: 587
Connection security: STARTTLS
Authentication Method: Normal Password
User Name: my Vivaldi email addressUsing Gmail's SMTP server works fine.
For your username are you including @vivald.net? You need to leave it off.

@jane-n
Hello Jane of Vivaldi team and thank you always for your fast and clever replies.
I wrote an e-mail on March 23 but I preferred to write it also here because it's important and concerns my webmail account. I use Vivaldi webmail and I like this service very much and would not like to lose it, and even less obviously my e-mails.
I was surprised to have received on March 27 an e-mail from Roundcube and I don't know them and I don't know what they wish (and if it's a serious e-mail) and I really ask you help for knowing what to do and how to do to be safe and quiet after the end of this month (so tomorrow).
Thank you very much,
EmmanuelP.S : I didn't follow the link "Upgrade Here Now" in the Roundcube e-mail because I want to know your opinion. I refuse of course to pay any fee (when I see "upgrade" I fear it's paying upgrading and I'll refuse obviously).
-
@hansartist This email you received sounds like spam/phishing. No emails were sent to upgrade anything, the "upgrade" was all server-sided and no user interaction necessary.

@an_dz
Thank you for your quick reply and I'm not really surprised as I know that swindlers are everywere...
