Scheduled system downtime (21 March 2018), and updating mailbox settings
-
It seems to get worse. After the problem with the (still) missing emails, it isn't even possible to send e-mails anymore with Thunderbird.
-
@gwen-dragon I did that hours ago when I left a message here - I have not heard back from them
-
@oliver Maybe sit back and wait a day? Grab your towel and don't panic.
The only thing I can say is I haven't moved any of my relevant email to Vivaldi mail. And even if M3 is released, I will use it rather to gather all email accounts, than to have Vivaldi mail as one of my main addresses. I see no point doing this, because of the fact that Vivaldi mail is also my account address. I don't want it to be spammed, it should remain clean.

Au contraire for me. Per my earlier post with pics, & just rechecked again now, it's working fine with my TB.

@jane-n
Hello the Vivaldi team,
I use your webmail service since the start and I'm happy of because of its presentation, its soberty and fonctionnality, but I'm very worried now knowing that it will have a big update and change at the end of this month because I have no other email box, only Vivaldi webmail, and I don't want to change it also because I receive all my emails here and most are very important.
I don't want of course to loose my e-mails and to be not able to send e-mails either, so can you reassure me please and help me to understand what I must do if I mist do something to be safe ?
Thank you very much -

Today (22/03/2018) I find that all my email later than 08/03/2018 had disappeared, after the scheduled downtime. Can they be recovered/returned? Thanks
All email seems to be back now, thanks for that. Only problem still remaining is that since the downtime I can no longer send messages from Mozilla Thunderbird (can receive). Any ideas?
-
@sweetman Some said that retyping their passwords fixed this in other clients.
-
@hansartist The update has already been done. What you might be asking is the planned shutdown of webmail.vivaldi.net, if you are using this interface I just linked it will be shutdown in favour of mail.vivaldi.net.
-
@steffie Still missing lot's of e-mails and, after checking the settings, still can't send any e-mails (Thunderbird shows an smtp error). Can receive e-mails however.
-
Hey, guys! Since the sys admin has to work on each mailbox separately, restoring the emails can take time. But everyone who has contacted us on Support has been added to the list and we'll do our best to restore all the missing emails.
We'll also try to let everyone know, when the mail should be back, but you can check your mailbox every now and then, should we not manage to reply fast enough.
Thank you for your patience! -

You have changed your SMTP settings in TB since the maintenance ... like was specified in the opening post of this thread, & shown in one of my pics ... haven't you? If you have done it, then the V team will need to advise. If you have not done it, then of course you cannot send now.
I see you said...
after checking the settings
What does "checking" mean? Did you actually change them, as now required?
-
Hi! I also lost some emails beginning around March 15th. I've already sent an email to the support team and I wait to see the results. Thanks for your effort!
-
My folders have disappeared and I get email protected from message that contained email addresses. When will it be back to normal?
-
It would be nice if mail.vivaldi.net had a "Remember me" feature when logging in. It's annoying to have to enter my details every time.
-
@joelyoung It does remember my username and password, but it would be better if it would log-in automatically.
-
@steffie Indeed, I did change the SMTP settings as specified and did an extra check to see if the settings were correct. The problems I had with my emailaccount, missing mail messages (and TB) are, thanks to jane.n , solved now.
-
@pesala Odd... when I go there the fields are blank, and I have to input everything again.
-
The notification box at the top of the page announcing system down time is blocking the buttons to write new emails, delete, etc. This is on mobile. Thanks
-
sorry for creating a new topic... no privileges to delete it now...
I also lost all my emails after 8th of March, any chance of restoring them, please? Thanks, L
