@Gwen-Dragon okay, sorry!

A more generalized feed, please look : A generalized and more user-centered feed ; data streams monitoring (mail, html differences, rss feed)

LLonM moved this topic from Archive on

and once again, it's not done
OPML import is broken (skips folders, it used to kinda work in Experiment though and you have to restart the browser after import for it to actually show articles)
no opening article in new tab by middle click, no favicons and overall whole experience is slow and glitchyit's not done. period.
EDIT: and the latest changes in themes are making it so unreadable too, with some tinkering it should get better but realistically proposed themes shouldn't be unusable for any part of the product

@zakius The RSS reader has been out for a while now, I feel confident in saying the basic functionality is "done". If there's any bugs, then please report them through the usual channels, and if you want extra features on top like favicons or middle click to open, please make individual feature requests. Thanks.
-
basic functionality is not there yet and the feature is buggy enough to be officially considered beta
it is not done and pretending it is won't change that
guys, really, I understand it takes time to get things done but advertising features that are not yet in an usable state as "done" won't bring you users, it can only make them see you as not trustworthy
it's toolbar config once again... -
@zakius It’s your personal opinion. In my personal opinion your suggestions are horrible and would make the feed reader worse.
-
@luetage can you maybe explain how making OPML import work properly would break the reader? or how making it work fast would break it? or how not having to restart after import would break it? or how being able to (not having to!) open an article with a single click would break it?
-
@zakius I was referring to your mock‐up.
About the other stuff… import works for me, we do need export though. @LonM made a console export function for it, but it should be native. Fast is just a buzzword, it doesn’t mean anything. I haven’t got bored loading a feed yet. Importing is something you won’t do on a regular basis, but as far as I can remember I didn’t have to restart last time. Either way, couldn’t care less. Single click, again, couldn’t care less. But there’s something to be said about keyboard navigation and how it isn’t well thought out for the whole UI. And articles should be opened on the original page by clicking on the header. Having to scroll to the bottom is clumsy. But again, minor nuisance.
The only thing I would really criticize is how some feeds won’t update, but I have a hard time reproducing this from a clean state.
-
@luetage for me import skipped folders as I said and while status bar showed it trying to download new articles I had to restart the browser to actually see them so what can I say?
as for mock-up I went through the topic few times as it's been over 3 years and I found none I've posted

@zakius Oh true, that was the post above your’s, lol
Anyway, I’m fairly happy with it, especially because you can use the feed reader as podcast player.
