Snapshot 1.2.490.27 - Closing in on a 1.2 stable release
-
Probably, but much later in the process : each modification to the Chr source base muse be carried to each release of Chromium. It's a big work to maintain any change in the core. It's much easier to keep the changes to a minimum. At least, for now.
-
is there a way to re-import searchengines?
-
On History, please add "find as you type" feature which would be much convenient than click "enter" button.
-
I had this problem too, on a computer at work. But at home I do not have this problem . Probably you will have to delete all profile data
-
Text only in bookmark bar - both icon nad text are displayed.
-
Well here's to hoping they get to fix our common problem soon. I'll drink to that tonight.
-
You're right, now that I look like it does not work the same way . And I know one hundred percent that I'm on the previous SS worked without problems
-
BUG Search suggestions in adress field and searching field still not working. VB-18086
-
uBlock Origin extension still seems to have problems with private windows in the snapshot: Even when uBO is active for incognito mode, it's icon can not be selected. Works fine in "normal" windows.
This differs from the behaviour in 1.1, where uBO would sometimes become confused in private windows, and the panel would show details for the currently active tab in the normal window instead. -
Yes I have heard the same things as Ayespy, and I can moreover confirm that it is being worked on every day.
-
The UI font-size/font-weight is actually a Windows 10 Insider Preview bug. The way to fix it is to go into your profile and delete a file called ChromeDWriteFontCache.
-
VB = Vivaldi Browser. The numerical code is assigned on submission by JIRA. There are several other projects (for example, the website Vivaldi.com) on the bugtracker, and the bugs associated with those things have a different two-letter starting code.
-
Have you tried deleting ChromeDWriteFontCache in the profile?
-
Don't worry about the regressions. These patches were all collected over the course of two days and fixed because the team wants to release 1.2 stable this week.
-
It is not intended behavior.
-
I asked one of the Sopranos from Spain if he could reproduce (with a link to your comment).

I don't know whether Peacekeeper benchmarks mean very much about performance, but I notice that Vivaldi gets slower with each version. Higher scores are better:

The only smart move would be to own the code, from top to bottom.
But that's not possible. They can't ditch Blink, because at the end of Presto, Opera had 100 devs only to maintain it. And it wasn't enough. Building a core from scratch isn't possible with the current manpower.
They can't ditch Chromium, because a lot of functions are still provided by Chromium. Like the history, some settings, the site badge⦠And anyway, there are modifications to be done in the core too, if they ditch Chr, so with or without it is the same. The only way for this situation to evolve would be to have more devs. The only possibility for that to happen is to have more users. And for that, you know what to do
As for using Gecko instead of Chr, the situation is globally the same than with using Chr (with updates from Mozilla every 6 weeks), except that nowadays, Gecko is out of date, is difficult to integrate and to code with, and frankly, they don't want you to. That's why most of current "skin browsers" are using Chr/Blink. It wasn't even a choice.
Even internally, when they needed to do quick mock-ups for a new design, they use Electron (which is Chr) (Google project Tofino) -
Some of the Bookmarks functions malfunctioned

Nope, we tried and failed on a Mac with the Spanish keyboard settings turned on.
Could you give a more detailed step by step description of the bug, exactly what you did. Start off with what OS settings you have on your keyboard and dictionary, then move on to exactly the website you visited, and finally exactly what you did on the website in order to trigger the bug.
Thanks for your help. Cheers!
