Snapshot 1.0.385.5 - Changes to tab opening and closing behaviour
-
A bit of a drama over nothing. It takes seconds to change it to the way you want. It's not as if Vivaldi are forcing you to use their default method (the reason it's now a default is so it can be tested), as they've supplied you with the options to revert it. Saying that you've been forced not to go beyond Opera 11 is a bit odd, seeing that you're not being forced to use the option.
-
I don't like new "Next To Related Tabs" option, I need "Right of Current Tab"!
-
Yeah, it'd be a good idea to have that as an option. I think the next to related tab option is a good option, but there should be an option to have it the way that you desire.
-
VB-12408 Open multiple bookmarks
I know I was moaning about this option, but - you have added it! I'm so happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And for the new tabs behavior too! For all. You are great! [self-censorship] the other browsers.
-
Was hoping that doing a search in the search bar would open a new tab rather than use the same one. This behaviour is very annoying as I have to remember to open a new tab just to do a search or use keyboard shortcuts.
I much prefer how firefox handles searches, using the address bar yields the same results as Vivaldi in using the current tab while using the search bar opens in a new tab.
And speaking of old methods, what happened to the horizontal menu? Thought we were going to be able to choose the old version which we could theme in the css as an alternative to the new native one.

IPv6-only hosts are broken now:
This webpage is not available
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIGHmm, it seem that was kind of a glitch, after some time, it came back to normal…
-
YES!!! Grrr, It's so irritating to go back a page because I pressed the Alt key and moved my mouse at the same time! New Opera doesn't even do that. And I also want to turn off the Alt key for activating the menu, not that that matters that much, but it would be nice to not have any unexpected behavior. I also sometimes click on some things like this one time I clicked somewhere on the address bar and the entire browser closed . . .

One option I'd love is when opening a new tab from a middle-click on a link, that it can be set to switch to it. Currently, it opens the tab in the background. I know that if I press shift at the same time as middle-clicking, that it'll do what I want, but my past usage has always been to middle-click for a link to open in a new tab and switch to it without need to use the keyboard. Any chances that this can be an option when middle-clicking, like an option to reverse behaviour (shift and middle-click to open in the background)?
-
Nice snapshot! I like the new tab behaviour.
Some bugs I noticed:
-
the round corners on OS X are gone.

the new icons are not really visible when using dark menubar on OS X

Sorry, I don't understand your argument about me staying with the classic Opera is odd. I've stayed with Opera for many reasons. And I have been accustomed to its way so much that I find it difficult to look at this tab placement and behaviour as normal and standard. I am happy that Vivaldi also thinks the classic Opera was a good thing. It still has ways to go and fix/add things but I hope it doesn't turn eventually into Chrome.
-
Mine has been stalling at that for several snapshots now. They always complete when I resume the donwnload. Bit of an odd bug.
-
"I hope it doesn't turn eventually into Chrome." All indications are that it will do rather the reverse. Although more "Chrome-like" options will become available, the ability to structure image, form and function to be totally UNLIKE Chrome will only increase.
-
I meant that it was odd that one of the reasons why you've stuck with Opera 11 is because of an option that you dislike being set as default, despite the fact that it can be changed to do it the way that you want it done. It seems odd that a few seconds to change an option has kept you with Opera 11.
However, I do agree with you that it shouldn't restrict itself into aping Chrome (which it currently isn't doing), but as long as it gives us options to customise its behaviour, then I'm fine.

No, I mean that when you have a tab selected, there should be an option to half-brightness highlight all of the related tabs. For instance, suppose you have tab X_0, with tabs X_1,…,X_n that were spawned from tab X, and a tab Y to the right of tab X_0 before spawning the X_i. Then suppose that tab X_1 was dragged to the right of tab Y. If you then activate tab Y, then tab X_1 and close tab X_1, you will unexpectedly end up at some tab X_i.
That is, there is no visual indicator of what "related tab group" you are currently in if the related tabs are moved around. So my proposal would be to have some kind of visual indicator that you are in a group of related tabs, and that when you close one, you will stay within the group. This could be a slightly brighter/darker shade than the active tab, but slightly darker/brighter (respectively) than an inactive tab.

First of all thanks for the new build.
I noticed that in this build using the middle mouse button on a bookmark folder (in the bookmark sidebar) opens all bookmarks in the folder, and also all bookmarks in subfolders. The previous behaviour was to only open those in the folder the middle mouse button was used on. Is this a change or a bug and if it is a change, is there a way to get the old behaviour back? I can't seem to find a setting for it.
-
Bring back "Right of Current Tab" , please.
-
The Opera team liked your idea of Mute Tabs so much that they copied it in Opera 35 released today.
-
Mine has been doing the same. I'd say it started some time around Beta 2. Maybe earlier.
-
Why would they add an option and then take away an option? I thought they were all about options.
-
Sweet! I've been advocating that the tabs needed to work like it does in other browsers, so it's nice to see this implemented! Also nice to see VB-11903 squashed, it was kind of getting annoying. Keep those bug fixes coming!
