Snapshot 1.0.303.32 - Beta Candidate
-
It's usable for me, but then I've never used the mail client. Viv is my main browser. There are many features I would like, but they have to get a first final version out of the door at some point and I'm excited we're getting close to that.
-
Had this happen to the 64bit version as well since the previous built. The 64bit version just won't run, the process stays in the background but nothing happens. Fortunately the 32bit version works fine for me.

You can check and see what processes are running in task manager, and you can see if there is disk accessing in Resource Monitor.
I ask because I had a Vivaldi process going potty, and in the end using those tracked it down to a file called "Top Sites" which is in the User Data/Default directory. It had grown huge. For some reason the Chromium code needs to manipulate it and once it grows too big, it becomes a virtually endless process. Deleting it cured the problem.
It was slowing my system down to a crawl and consuming memory. Take a look, it might be your problem too. Jon has indicated by the way that the Viv team are focussing on this issue.

OK. Got it. Agreed that we need a bit of work here. Thanks for making it this clear!
Cheers,
Jon. -
Thank you for your kinds words and support!

Thanks!
We are working on mail. It takes time, but I believe it is going to be great! It is getting better and better every day.
Cheers,
Jon. -
As advised above, you can delete the Top Sites file. The only drawback of it is that thumbnails will need to get regenerated. Let know if this fixed the intensive disk activity.
-
Took a look at the exact files with Process Monitor and the problem was indeed being generated by access to the top sites file. Deleted it, problem solved. Also deleted cookies, but I don't think I really had to.
-
I have this on Linux 64bit.

Guys, you probably moved fast lately by applying extra effort in anticipation of nearing beta release. Now that you announced it and get everyones favorite bugs here, which are a lot, you could get disappointed and experience a setback.
Well, you shouldn't. First, beta always meant buggy and it's ok for you to not solve all of these before it. Second, all people complaining here already use your browser daily, which means they think it's better than anything else available, even in it's present unfinished form.
You are also making lots of releases anyway, each of which many people myself included perceive as a good news. I just wanted you to know that we value your work.

The save to pocket extension still doesn't seem to be working w vivaldi. it appears to open a tab and that is it.
-
The mail client and feed reader is what I miss most from Opera 12. I have 11 years of mail of mail in M2 and I still use the standalone client. It's going to be great to have them integrated in my browser again.

Win 7 64 bit, 32 Viv
You must forgive me it's been a long day and I'm probably not thinking well, It's 3 AM and I just came home from my 94 year old Dad that lives alone and fell hard trying to mow his lawn after having flu days before. You can't keep those WWII vets down I admire him greatly.
Now to the problem I thought what you said went out of FF and closed it out, waited a few minutes and loaded Viv. Seemed OK so I looked at Win TaskMASTER and could find anything ( resource hasn't loaded but outside frame for awhile).
I then decided to take a snip of VIV tasksmanger which I caught and is below:
Funny thing is if you look at it it shows a lot with FF40.01 or whatever also which I had close several minutes before.Started slowing down closed Viv and went back to FF to do this but I thought I'd better take your advice before I sent this and check "Top Sites" at the location you indicated. WOW that file contained 133 Meg so I deleted it, the journal file had 0 bytes.
Haven't had time to go back it's been a long day so I am going to TRY and shut down ME!! I hope this give's you and the team enough data to help.
Hope I can sleep goodnight world.

Nice work! He doesn't crash anymore
-
Still cant use it on mac, on mine imac 2014, its so laggy, slow, and uncomfortable.
And the most annoying bug is still here - cmd-t doesnt work -
When I type a word in, (not an address), hit Enter, Nothing, no search,
nothing; Why?? -
Happens to mine for Quick Commands only. Search works fine on the address bar
-
Seems to have solved the problem, however, why does a fresh Install load
ALL of my (opera 12.xxx) Speed Dial, details, plus some? -
So, we have our very first Beta candidate. While it's great that we're close to Beta, I don't think this snapshot is the best for Beta.
I'm having issues loading pages - sometimes they'll just load properly, but most of the time they'll first enter an error message before actually loading the page; and other times it'll just not load properly. I believe these problems should be cleared for a Beta release.
Also, we need a "Reload Image" option in the Right Click Menu. During this snapshot I've come across pages that load everything except the only image I want to see. With Opera 12, I could simply reload that image alone, but I can't do that on Vivaldi.
Windows 7 64x, Vivaldi 64-bits.
Cheers.
