Snapshot 1.0.303.32 - Beta Candidate
-
If this is a beta candidate, shouldn't the about string in vivaldi:about be updated to say "Beta" and not "Developer Build"?
-
Thank you for your reply Jon. I think there is a missunderstanding here. We are not asking for some other presentation of bookmarks. Just a missing context menu.
I created a thread to describe the issue again and attach a picture to clarify what we mean.

Why can I still not import my bookmarks, passwords, and notes from Opera 12.17?
I managed many builds ago, but have not been able to do it again in recent builds, even after a clean installation.
I use a Standalone installation on a virtual VeraCrypt drive O:\ where Opera 12.17 is also stored. I select Opera 12.x and import operaprefs.ini from its profile folder. The dialogue just sits there doing nothing at all.

works better than the last, to keep improving

nasty bug alert:a Vivaldi's restart has solved it (for now)
anyone can confirm the "Typed history" bug when you can't select ("go to") a page from a address bar's dropdown using the LMB? (works with keyboard - enter)how to reproduce:
click on the drop down in the address bar
click (LMB) on an address to goConfirmations? W8.1 x64 with this x32 build
PS: THIS is pretty serious as many of ppl I know simply click on the address instead of using arrows and enter…
-
Works fine here, on W10.
-
Since a beta candidate is not a beta, then no. It hasn't crossed that hurdle yet.
-
hmm, simple restart has solved it (for now)… thanks for a hint.

It's usable for me, but then I've never used the mail client. Viv is my main browser. There are many features I would like, but they have to get a first final version out of the door at some point and I'm excited we're getting close to that.
-
Had this happen to the 64bit version as well since the previous built. The 64bit version just won't run, the process stays in the background but nothing happens. Fortunately the 32bit version works fine for me.

You can check and see what processes are running in task manager, and you can see if there is disk accessing in Resource Monitor.
I ask because I had a Vivaldi process going potty, and in the end using those tracked it down to a file called "Top Sites" which is in the User Data/Default directory. It had grown huge. For some reason the Chromium code needs to manipulate it and once it grows too big, it becomes a virtually endless process. Deleting it cured the problem.
It was slowing my system down to a crawl and consuming memory. Take a look, it might be your problem too. Jon has indicated by the way that the Viv team are focussing on this issue.

OK. Got it. Agreed that we need a bit of work here. Thanks for making it this clear!
Cheers,

Thank you for your kinds words and support!

Thanks!
We are working on mail. It takes time, but I believe it is going to be great! It is getting better and better every day.
Cheers,

As advised above, you can delete the Top Sites file. The only drawback of it is that thumbnails will need to get regenerated. Let know if this fixed the intensive disk activity.
-
Took a look at the exact files with Process Monitor and the problem was indeed being generated by access to the top sites file. Deleted it, problem solved. Also deleted cookies, but I don't think I really had to.

I have this on Linux 64bit.

Guys, you probably moved fast lately by applying extra effort in anticipation of nearing beta release. Now that you announced it and get everyones favorite bugs here, which are a lot, you could get disappointed and experience a setback.
Well, you shouldn't. First, beta always meant buggy and it's ok for you to not solve all of these before it. Second, all people complaining here already use your browser daily, which means they think it's better than anything else available, even in it's present unfinished form.
You are also making lots of releases anyway, each of which many people myself included perceive as a good news. I just wanted you to know that we value your work.

The save to pocket extension still doesn't seem to be working w vivaldi. it appears to open a tab and that is it.
