Tab stack tiling, on demand plugins in tabs, more mouse gestures, better import and a more snappy UI
-
My most nasty showstopper until now has been the UI responsiveness.
As it's now quite better, my next big problem is the lack of frame, source and image operations in context menus (like they were in Opera 12, and like they are currently in PaleMoon).
And from the small irritations – I still occasionally get this odd bug of Enter not working in the address field.Been there. Then if I slide down to the search option from the url bar, that works. In order to get (enter) working in the url bar again, you have to restart the browser.
-
I'm using Adguard. There's nothing wrong with it…?
-
We know about that shortcuts update bug. Look out for VB-4525. It's fixed internally already, so it'll most certainly be in next snapshot.
btw: you can make it work by resetting your keyboard shortcuts (and re-configuring thereafter again) -
They definitely do, touchpad is no different than mouse. Although it can be less covinient to use mouse gestures on it, except rocker-gestures.
If they do not work for you, this might be due to a bug that mouse gestures do not work on upgraded Vivaldi install. Install Vivaldi afresh then.
-
BTW, in rocker-gestures, after holding right-mouse button, you can press left mouse button multiple times to go several pages in the Back history.
-
I can confirm this problem. Sometimes loads the thumbnails, but others never without any logic.
-
I installed an extension that exports Opera bookmarks to html and imported in Vivaldi with no issues.
-
Do you mean the bug that shortcuts do not get updated during installation process - upgrade to new version?
So from now on FRESH and UPGRADED instances should work the same when it comes to keyboard shortcuts? And the problem with Enter not working in the address bar will also be eliminated? You mean I should look up for VB-4525 in the upcoming changelog(s), right? OK.
I only hope that also the Ctrl+Left triggering Back will be fixed along with the keyboard working in the upgraded instance as in the fresh one…

Win8 x64 - partially works.

Would it be possible in the next update to allow speed dial folders to be created as necessary by simply dragging one link over another? Thx.
-
Hmm, they are not duplicated anymore. Maybe a restart of the browser helped. It might have been some one-time, hard to replicate, minor happening.

PLUS, as a labour saver, we would very much benefit from a dedicated Button to directly open the Full-Window Bookmarks Manager.
I started a thread on this in the forum. I suggested a button on the bookmark panel next to the editing buttons. I assume it would not be difficult.

There is a problem with stacked tabs context menu using multiple screens. Menu is shown only on my main screen, athought I have been using second second screen. Also it is cut due to the fact the top edge of the main screen is not detected.

BUT, in order to be a labour saver, the button needs to be located somewhere in the main UI window, not inside of a sidebar or a menu, nor inside of another tab or window.
I always have my bookmark panel open so in my case it would be one click to the bookmark manager. Actually putting the button in a few places would not hurt at all.
-
BTW, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool non-sidebar panel user.
I won't hold that against you …
Oh, and where is that forum thread of yours ?

I could see all my posts. I didn't check if I can see about viewing all of other's posts.
-
EDIT: When clearing %vivaldi%\Profile\Default\Local App Settings\ the mouse gestures work again.
-
Pity that it is not possible to embed images in the comments. Any chance it will be possible??
-
This does not seem intuitive or possible to upload an image and embed it in a post forum in one go. What path have you went through to embed the screenshot?
-
In the forums, after you "add file" in the attachment dialog, you use the "insert" option. As for the blog, I don't see how one would add an image here.

I'm amazed about the pace of the development. I used the old Opera for years and didn't want to change after Opera implemented Blink. The only thing I really missed was the tab stacking but I stuck to it.
I found Vivaldi and use it sporadically and was very pleased to see the tab stacking. And now I notice how many really new features you implement with this tremendous speed. Tab stack tiling is something useful and I certainly will use it in the future.
If I could use extensions, I just need uBlock or uMatrix, I would take Vivaldi as my main browser. The Opera team is unfortunately not able to develop new features in an acceptable time frame.
Keep the good work up and the first stable version will be awesome!
