Tab stack tiling, on demand plugins in tabs, more mouse gestures, better import and a more snappy UI
-
Correct. The idea was to have both. I would expect it to be fixed in next build.
Moreover down-up on a link should open it in the background. Hopefully we will see it implemented soon too. -
It happens sometimes. Again it happened just a moment ago when I posted this reply - the URL changed to:
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/!/ccomment-comment=1155 -
EDIT :
OK, first, it forced this new post down to the bottom of the thread, rather than nesting it directly under yours, so it seems that there is a timer on nesting too.
Second, it DOES let me edit the new post, as you can see.
There is no timer on nesting. It is the limit of maximum levels of nesting replies.
As you can see, for example this comment still has Reply button, while newer replies to it do not.You can obviously edit your new post as it is just a regular new comment.

Exactly…

Three annoying bugs on this blog - could you fix them soon please?
1. Permalinks do not get translated properly - to links with #anchor, therefore the page does not scroll down to the comment. Which kills the idea of having permalinks, because you do not know which post does it refer to. Example:
This link:
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/17-tab-stack-tiling-on-demand-plugins-in-tabs-more-mouse-gestures-better-import-and-a-more-snappy-ui#!/ccomment-comment=1206
gets translated to this:
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/!/ccomment-comment=12062. In the comment compose window - when selecting URL starting with https:// and pressing the URL button, the URL tag will be added together with http:// ending up in URL starting with http://https:// - which later does not get translated to proper link and displayed as such in the comment.
3. Sometimes after adding a comment, the URL in the Vivaldi's address field changes to the like: https://vivaldi.net/en-US/blogs/teamblog/item/!/ccomment-comment=1130
and loading of such URL is not possible - blank page shows up. -
There is a strange and worrying discrepancy that some bugs exist or not depending on whether it is a FRESH Vivaldi instance or UPGRADED Vivaldi instance - both ways!
Three examples I noticed, but there is probably more:
1. Mouse gestures work in FRESH instance, but do not work in upgraded instance.
2. Ctrl+Tab does switch tabs in FRESH instance, but does not work in upgraded instance.
3. Ctrl+Left arrow in edit field triggering Back action bug does not happen in the UPGRADED instance (though it was existent in all the builds so far!!), while exists in the FRESH instance.Windows 7 Proffessional 64-bit, Vivaldi 32-bit. I am using standalone installation option.
Can it be a bug in the installer that needs to be fixed? -
Going to throw this out there because they are important.
Would like to see the NEXT update with the links panel option from opera 12 ALONG with the ability to fully customize BOTH ends of the short cut keys. Me and close to a few thousand people I interact with use fully customized shortcut keys on opera 12 as the primary reason we use it still.
Seriously would love this browser with a few small fixes to it even in its pre alpha stage.

Viewing notes still not fully fixed on Windows 7 Professional. If in the text there is a breakline followed by dash, only the first line of the note is visible in read mode. The whole content becomes visible after pressing edit.
Example to test yourself - paste in your notes (only Foo visible in read mode, - bar appears after pressing Edit):
Foo
- bar
Also there is an unnecessary empty line at the top of notes content in read mode. It disappears after entering Edit mode.
-
Yup. Thumbs up for the links panel!
Though I would not have high hopes for the next snapshot. -
You make gestures in the following way:
- press and hold right mouse button,
- make a gesture by sliding mouse in some predefined direction,
- release right mouse button.
The example gesture is sliding mouse left for triggering Back or sliding right for triggering Forward or sliding down for New tab or sliding down-right to close the tab.
There are also so-called rocker-gestures.
When you click and hold left mouse button and press right mouse button, you trigger Forward. The opposite buttons to trigger Back. -
Four simple quick-fixes which would make a big difference in ergonomics:
1. Adding Paste and Go
2. Esc should stop loading a page
3. Shortcut for Add selection as new Note (preferably Ctrl+Shift+C as in Opera)
4. Pressing Alt should trigger Vivaldi pulldown menu. -
Bug: After upgrade to build 138.4 I have a duplicated Add selection as new Note entry in the context menu. Anyone else or only me?
Windows 7 Proffessional 64-bit, Vivaldi 32-bit. I am using standalone installation option.

There seems to be a CSS processing issue in the latest snapshot (Windows 32 Bit). In two of my blogs sharing the same WordPress theme, namely
www.zonebattler.net
www.medienpraxis.tvthe text is rendered and displayed too small! This was not the case in all previous releases of Vivaldi and never has been an issue with any other browser.

I'd really, really like to have an option to disable tab previews completely. If you arrange your tabs on the left or right hand side of the screen, you can keep dozends of open tabs neatly arranged if they show only favicon and title line… This feature is one of the very few reasons why I'm still sticking to Opera 12.17...
-
Please, allow us to activate old background tab loading indicatior as an option!
Favicon is not visible anyway during loading process (it's either empty or "default" globe icon), so it's useless to waste that space. And drawing circle was more visible than tiny progress bar.
-
if we will be able to freely resize tiles - for me it's better than mdi - no unnecessary manual resizing of all tabs. but on the other hand - this would require me to stack the tabs i'd like to see side by side, which may be undesired
-
About #4 - it's probably only HTML loading indicator, not the whole page with all resources.
-
I think the current implementation is better. But I agree that the progress bar should be more visible (use the complete background of the tab title, maybe?)

Confirmed ! Every Week !
