Feature requests for 1.7
-
The Speed Dial feature is a nice idea but working on a desktop computer with a mouse I don't really need the large thumbnails to click on. If there was a feature to turn off the thumbnails there would be room for hundreds of plain text labels. Having a larger number of text labels on the screen would be far more useful than having the thumbnails.

When searching the bookmarks it would be nice to have some means of seeing the folder locations of the search results. In Firefox I used an extension called "Sidebar Bookmarks Search Plus" to solve this problem, but I haven't found any equivalent for Vivaldi.
-
It would be nice if you could pin open the find dialog so it would stay open when you switched to a different tab. This would be very helpful when you're searching several tabs instead of having to open it for each one.
-
If you have "Open Bookmark Panel Items With Single Click" enabled you cannot shift + click to select multiple bookmarks to copy them (to for example paste them into an email). One solution might be to have separate single clicking options for both the bookmarks sidebar and for the big bookmarks manager in the start page. Then you could just use the bookmarks manager when you need to copy a bunch of bookmarks. This is the way Firefox solves the problem.
-
Related to above, if you have "Open Bookmark Panel Items With Single Click" enabled, when you are renaming a bookmark and try to click the cursor somewhere in the rename field it will launch the bookmark. The open bookmark with single click function should be disabled when the rename field is active.

I wasn't able to adjust the colors a way I liked them without leaving it hard to tell which tab is currently active. It would be nice to have an option to apply the highlighting color on the active tab.

When you add a bookmark to the bookmark panel by dragging the tab and dropping it, the list of bookmarks shoots up to the top every time. This is annoying because you often want to add several bookmarks into the same folder at the same time, so you have to add a folder then drag it back down, then add another folder then drag it back down again, and so forth.
-
A minor thing, but I would find it preferable if there was an option for the Xs on the tabs and other places to stay visible all the time. Edit: pafflick already requested this.
OK, that's all from me. I didn't mean to spam the forum but I decided to just go ahead and post all the things I've noticed since I've been using Vivaldi. Thanks for making such a great browser!

@Blueridge Already requested here.

@pafflick Sorry, I missed that. I voted for it on your post.

To implement a feature similar to Opera Turbo, it would be a good ...

@Pesala I really miss this feature

I using vivaldi in my company and have many sites to login with username and password.
I wish, that vivaldi have a "auto login" function.
The stored password should fill automatically and login the site.
This feature does increase the performance enormous. How think the vivaldi community about this?
regards

Or for the time being at least an RSS icon, CSS for displaying the XML file nicely (like the old Opera / RSS Detector extension for new Opera) and a way to invoke an external RSS reader or a web service.
For now I've switched to QuiteRSS, a standalone reader.
While looking for an alternative to Opera M2 the biggest challenge was to export and import the feeds and even just the links to the XML files online. There's no way of mass importing via a list of URLs in any of the RSS readers, standalone and extension. It's horrible. I hope Vivaldi's mail client will be able to mass import/export feeds via a list or URLs or something like that.

@stefangaisb I prefer to use a password manager (in my case, LastPass, but there are several good ones around). This allows me to generate very strong, unique passwords for each site, keep the passwords safe with strong encryption, yet keep them easy to use through the password manager's browser plug-in. Browsers do not store passwords securely (if Vivaldi is or will be an exception to this, that's great). One of the first things I did, when I initially loaded LastPass, was to ask it to import the passwords that browsers (at the time, Opera, Chrome and IE) had stored on my laptop. This it did, instantly and faultlessly, and with no input from me (which just shows how easily such passwords can be accessed when stored by your browser). These password managers have other features too, such as the ability to automatically fill in forms. Finally, most of the offer free versions which have all the core functionality. If you want more advanced functionality, such as the ability to sync passwords so they can be accessed on multiple devices, that usually costs a few dollars a year. I was a bit of a sceptic when I started with password managers, but as you can see, I've become a huge convert!

The Reader View is fantastic -- I really love it, especially now there's a keyboard shortcut. However, it does not seem to distinguish or handle different types of text elements well. For example, pictures may be stripped out of the Reader View while their captions remain. This would be tolerable if Reader View styled the captions differently to the main body text, but it does not. As a result, caption text is mixed up with the body text and it's impossible to tell one from the other, which makes reading very confusing. (Example is this news page: http://tinyurl.com/h9nf88n Go to Reader View and start reading. 10 of the paragraphs are actually captions -- but can you tell which ones?)
So a general feature request is for Reader View to style text elements differently. Ideally, the user would be able to specify their own fonts and styling preferences, perhaps through some sort of CSS UI, but I appreciate that may take a lot more time to develop. Meanwhile, even a basic solution would help, since the current mode of operation actually inhibits the very thing it is supposed to enhance: readability!
[Note: if this has already been requested, or is already provided in the application, please let me know -- and my apologies for wasting your time]

@CheVe11e_191 I think an option to export the notes would be more useful to most users, and would protect users from losing notes in more than one specific case.
Notes that are accidentally deleted can be recovered from the Trash, so what would an option to lock notes add? Should it prevent editing of notes too?

@XSA thank you for your answer! Now i am using Roboform. It works good, but when the function is included in vivaldi, i will be very happy
roboform works only online. I think lastpass also. You must have a account there. I am not very happy about this because my sensitive passwords are stored on their server. I dont know how secure the passwords are stored.
When Vivaldi get a solution about this, you can store the data local on your PC -
