Feature requests for Vivaldi's new forum

- The biggest problem thus far is that the compose window does not fit if you zoom in too far. I can work around this by zooming in even more while editing to use the entire window width.
- The long list of smilies is just silly
- I am happy with inserting a signature from a note when it's needed, instead of in every post.

@ROTFL you should see this blue line below the last unread post in the topic.
-
I think I have explain all bug find in private message... If I have a time, I think add all bug find here.
-
@isak Placing the highlighted line BELOW the post is kinda counter-intuitive. A background color change of the last unread (or linked) post would be better (fading out from light yellow/blue/grey or other color to white).
EDIT: I've made an example of this and it looks neat! Try it out!
/* These are just some minor tweaks */ li.highlight { margin-top: -20px; padding-top: 20px; } li.highlight>hr { border-color: #eee !important; box-shadow: none !important; } span.bookmarked { top: 18px !important; } /* The animation goes here: */ @keyframes fadeOut { 0% { background-color: #ffffee; } 100% { background-color: #fff; } } li.highlight { background-color: #ffffee; animation: fadeOut 6s linear forwards; }
You'll need Stylish, User CSS or another similar extension that allows you to add custom CSS to websites, in order to use that code.
I edited this for a second time, to improve the code. All elements are in their previous positions now. I have to credit @Saskatchewan for providing the code to remove the blue line.

How does one upload an image to add a screen shot to a post?
![alt text](image url)
Do we have to upload every image to a web server or Flikr to link to it?
How do I insert a Horizontal Rule?
OK, three times underscore works.

oO
I would never guess@Pesala
We had image attaching capabilities on previous forum version but uploading it to external hosting server had worked better.
I just get used to do it this way...Another problems with chat window
- Please replace current font with for example the font used by forum posts. Current one is hard to watch...
- It is possible to drag chat window out of wisible area so drabbable captionbar is invisible

Currently yes, but uploading images onto this forum has worked just a few days ago. You have to report this as a bug.

If I try with three hyphens, it just treats the preceding text as a headingJust use underscore
_
instead of hyphens-
That's how.

Oh and thanks for the emojis A section of the best smileys would be great (:
Yes. There are too many now.
-
Please use a normal weight font in the smiley's. The bold face is overpowering.
-
@pafflick I cannot get used to it because it takes way too long.
We also need to upload 7z and Zip files as attachments at least, if not PDF, and other common formats.
-
The forum is quite ok right now. Just a few requests concerning future development....
Please don't introduce signatures. They take up too much space and basically only serve the ego of the individual poster. A short "about me" section on the profile could very much serve the same purpose if something like this is even needed.
Please don't introduce emojis ( OOOPs ). They distract from content and text-based smileys always look better anyway. And if you do want emojis look at chat platforms like tlk.io for a prime example on how to do it. They let them be grey + simple -- and for the better.
And yeah, being able to exclude forum boards from displays such as "recent" would be very helpful.
And before I forget it, pictures can be very overwhelming too, it would be awesome if you could introduce a setting to automatically hide all pictures in posts. Instead display a little show/hide picture button whenever a picture is posted. If I want to see it I just click it, if not it doesn't get in my way.

@pafflick - Testing your code. I assume it's for Stylish?

It works very well. Nice job. Can you remove the blue line?

Use this:
.topic .posts>li.highlight>hr { border-color: #eee; box-shadow: none; transition: none; }
-
@Saskatchewan - Thank you from Alberta. Testing now.

I'd like forum to look by default like that:
[Brighter stripes]
[Darker stripes]And please replace this icon with something more intuitive like cog / arrow / ellipsis / ...
That can be done with the following user CSS:
li[component="post"] > hr, /*hide the horizontal rule line at the end of most posts */ .post-bar > hr { /*hide the horizontal rule line at the end of the first post */ display:none; } li[component="post"] { padding: 20px 0 /*add padding to compensate for the lack of the horizontal's rules 20px+20px of margin*/ } li[component="post"]:nth-child(odd) { background: #e4e4e4; } .fa-ellipsis-v:before { font-size:130%; /* Adjust the size to your preference and depending on the symbol chosen below. */ content: "\2699"; /* Gear. Use instead "\f013" if you want to use the FontAwesome webfont set's gear icon. For "\2699" the browser falls back on some local font. */ /* Or you can use one of these. (Delete the "/*" at the beginning of one the lines to uncomment. */ /* content: "..."; /* Elipsis - "\2026" would work too, but is spaced a bit more, at least in my browser. */ /* content: "\21E9"; /* Down arrow. Use \f063 for the FontAwesome icon sets's down arrow */ }
Edit: Huh... After editing, the new forum doesn't give any indication to readers that it was edited, other than (apparently) updating the post order to put the edited post at the end of the thread. Combined with the vague "# [days|months|years] ago" timestamping, that could get confusing.

@gaelle Hi Gaelle,
First of all THANK YOU for a fantastic browser! It is easily the best of what is currently available, and I love it. I miss my beloved Opera 12.17, and Vivaldi is getting closer all the time. Here are a few "wish list" items for your team to consider.
In a nutshell, I want all of Opera 12's features! I know that's a bit broad... so more specifically, I hope Vivaldi will consider adding some of Opera 12's best features, like community-designed themes, and drag/drop icons for the Navigation bar for tasks like print, fit-to-width, Top Ten bookmarks, etc. (I'm referring to Opera 12 tabs bar, right-clicking in open space, then select Appearance/Customize/Buttons tab). SO many options.
Small nitpicks would be to have the homepage button open in a new tab, rather than over the current tab. Access to stored bookmarks on the Nav panel- as opposed to just the option to save new ones- would be nice for those who prefer to bypass the side panel.
Thanks again- is there a PayPal donation option available? I know the Opera/Vivaldi community would love to help!
Sincerely,
David Ferrara

Highlight the Up and Down arrows if the user has already upvoted or downvoted a post, it is currently it's impossible to know without clicking to see how punctuation changes. Eventually useful also at the blog.
Possible mockups:
Also think the i menu (with the editing and sharing options) would be more descriptive if it had instead a three dot icon or a "hamburger" menu icon instead

@duarte.framos Yup. Great idea

What about WebM embedding?
Currently it seems impossible to upload GIF files...
