VivaldiHooks - more useful mods!
-
@npro you can find more peeps on github, so you logically put your new project on github. but then… eh, you know.
but gitlab also doesn’t seem as the best choice, though its interface is similar to github’s [which is becoming a minus for me]. well, there’s little happening outside of github, so anyway i haven’t had a good chance to compare yet.

@luetage i didn’t want to mention anything, but… yes, i had these two in mind. i like about codeberg that it doesn’t create its own software, & about srht that it tries to keep everything simple & work with/using existing techniques, instead of replacing them.
-
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm losing hope these will ever work again...
-
@crimsonshade too bad there are not many able to fix Vivaldi Hooks code, and den_po often takes LOTS of time out from maintaining it. If you check in this same thread
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/11298/vivaldihooks-more-useful-mods/202?page=11
it took 2 years and some months last time to get it working again. -
Has there been any communication with the devs about this issue?
-
Will there be a future for Vivaldi Hooks? I am also willing to donate to this project.
-
Look this:
-
@barbudo2005 You'd better look at his GitHub account for news than his V one.
-
@hlehyaric
This is justdanpo's last post (2021-09-27) on his github site.It doesn't look promising.
-
@guigirl have you looked at the top of the page you linked? hooks are ready to work with 2.5, & what?
-
Is it possible to program bookmarks Button.js and toogle Tab Button.js without Vivaldi hooks?
-
@stardepp unlikely. why don’t you fix hooks instead?
@guigirl okay, once again. i said hooks were 2.5-ready. at what version did they last break? 2.4, really? were they updated for 2.5 just now?
what i’m trying to tell you, it’s an old commit that seems to be what fixed the previous big breakage. i was looking at it to get an idea how complicated fixing the current breakage may be.
- unlikely.
- no surprise, given the above (did you really have them with 2.5?)
-
@guigirl what’s current vivaldi version, anyway? 2.5 was sometime two years ago, at least supposing that the commit was done while 2.5 was still alive (
committed on 9 Jun 2019
).in the git language, commit is what you could prolly call revision.
perhaps i can compare it to the work of a detective. recently, something bad was done, similarly to another case two years ago. because i see it won’t be simple, i searched for docs on how the previous case was solved. because it is so scary, i linked the old docs to you, but you understood them to be for the current case.
let’s say something was stolen from you this time. you’re looking for mentions of it in the old docs, from when it wasn’t stolen / you didn’t have it yet.

@potmeklecbohdan VivaldiHooks was working until 4.3 snapshots, the 2.5 fix on github was indeed an old fix from 2 years ago and it has been working since few weeks ago when the 4.3 snaps hit us.
Den_po declared it's hard to fix in the github issue thread, nothing else was said. No one seem to be able to step up and fix it.
Hence, VivaldiHooks is again in an unusable state for the time being. -
-
its simple just stay on 4.2 - thats what i am doing until hooks are sorted - so far theres nothing in the updates that i need and 4.2 with hooks is far better
you can argue there are security fixes i am missing - i am sure there are but if i was that paranoid i should turn my laptop off and cancel my internet subscription
i look at what i want and 4.2 gives me that
-
and so it goes...
-
Id used vivaldihooks because of middle click in tab bar script, anyone knows how to reproduce this?
-
Nooooooooooooooooooo!
