@0x49D1 The native VPN button that can be moved to any toolbar independent from the extension container, and the fact that it installs the extension, is the integration on the software side of things. I believe it’s a plus it doesn’t come preinstalled directly, because people would complain about it.

Epic! Vivaldi is the best browser for work and personal as a content editor and web dev there is no browser other than this one and now it got a vpn built into it, will need to test it but well done!

@jon this is truly awesome, makes things so easy for those presently without a VPN.
I already have a ProtonVPN account (excellent partner choice) and was just about to ask if there was a way to configure this feature to work with my ProtonVPN account when I realized there is! I just click the settings in the Proton window, logout, and then login with "already have Proton account".
It was easy enough with the ProtonVPN windows app, but having a single button in the browser makes things even better.

This is interesting.
Do you run the VPN at all times? My only experience with free VPNs is very low speeds and bandwidth limits.

Hi, during my test it is a bit slower than my paid VPN service but much faster than other free/pseudo VPN's.
No bandwidth limits to my knowledge.Cheers, mib

Does this version still support Manifest V2? Do “unsupported” extensions still work?

@0x49d1: Well there is collaboration, which is why you can sign in with your Vivaldi account and do not need to create a Proton account first.

@mtaki14: Minor correction it gets installed when you 'click' the icon the first time.
If you never clicked the button just right click and remove it. If you already clicked it once, go to vivaldi:extensions and also remove the extension.

@doctorg: Almost but not quite. [Left] clicking on the button would install it even if you did not complete setup.

@0x49d1: Yes it is the extention from the store (and hence gets all updates) but it detects when it is running under Vivaldi adjusts slightly, e.g. allowing our users to login with their Vivaldi account and not needing to use a Proton account. That said, it you have a Proton account already or would prefer use a Proton login for any other reason, that is still possible. You choose.

Debian 12 KDE 5.27.5: Vivaldi always shows button to set as Default despite the fact it is set as default browser in KDE settings.

HI, cant reproduce on Opensuse, KDE 6.2, I have the setting Check on Startup disabled but it is enabled as default in the KDE settings.Opensuse Tumbleweed x86_64 KDE 6.2 X11, Windows 11 Pro, Vivaldi latest

I have the setting Check on Startup
I always had it on for testing current Stables.
When disabling the check the button does not come up. -
@0x49d1: It is free VPN service allowing you to login with an account that Vivaldi users already have. It was also one of our most requested features. So yeah… big milestone.
