CMD+W sporadically closes multiple tabs
-
The bug seems to be fixed after the latest update (6.9.3447.41).
I tested it out a few times already, opened a lot of tabs, and used cmd+w for each of them, and they closed one by one.
However, I think I remember closing the preferences window using cmd+w too, and it didn't work anymore after the 6.9.3447.37 update and still doesn't on the 6.9.3447.41 either
Can you guys check and confirm? -
@WhiteNoize It's still happening for me in 6.9.3447.41 - last time for me was literally when opening the tab I'm typing this in - it opened two tabs for cmd-t

Ok, sorry I spoke too soon...
Even though I tried a few times before posting, after opening 2 links from my email client, and closing one tab, it closed 2 instead; so no, it's not fixed.
Damn, I wish we could have a bug tracker to see the status, as @driph reported the bug already (VB-109041), that would avoid testing and posting (spamming) on the thread for nothing -
Yep, still an issue with 6.9.3447.41.
Has this been acknowledged as a bug by the Vivaldi team?
-
The issue is still comfirmed after updating the 6.9.3447.41, but seemed to appear less than the previous version.
I haven't seen the bug being mentioned in the changelog. -
Just adding to the chorus. Diabolical bug.
-
@WhiteNoize It seems to be resolved, you will have to wait for a release. Check upcoming changelogs for the bug number VB-108477.

@luetage
Thanks for the update!
But how do you know it's resolved? Where did you check?
Also, how many bug reports have been sent? Now I see 2: VB-109041 and VB-108477 -

Work in progress builds that are potentially rough around the edges compared to stable.
https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/snapshots/ as well as the corresponding forum area https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/83/desktop-snapshots links to the snapshots, but I don't see any mention of this issue in the changelog. There may a be more recent snapshot or nightly or something that I'm unaware of.

@driph Ah, got it! Thanks for the explanation!
-
Is this planning on being fixed and released any time soon? It's actually creating a psychological glitch with me now because I use multiple browsers and pressing CMD+W was the way I would close tabs. Now when I use Chrome or FF I think it's possible I will close multiple tabs with one click.
It really is a fundamental issue that should be patched ASAP. A week of this bug being in the wild is atrocious.

Same happening to me, macOS 14.16.1

Vivaldi blog said this issue was fixed on latest snapshot ver. 6.10.3464.3.

Yay! Hope it rolls into Stable soon.

@driph It's already in the latest stable, 6.9.3447.44
-
Correct. Problem solved! Thanks everyone!
-
OP here, can confirm I've not seen the issues since updating to the latest stable. Thanks Vivaldi!
