Any way to recover lost workspaces?
-
@benjhm How did you autosave sessions with the workspaces? I also have the problem of losing all my workspace today after quiting my mac yesterday. Started my mac today and normally (just 3 or 4 days on Vivaldi) Vivaldi starts also automatically. But today I saw and empty vivaldi screen. When starting Vivaldi again my workspaces were lost
This is a very nasty thing as my workspaces are important, because they have several websites running. Now I have to build them again. What is the best workaround of this?

@luetage Were can I exactly enable automatic session backup? I am a newbee here.

@hmestrum Open the sessions panel, at the bottom tick
automatic session backup
. I inquired about enabling this for new installs by default, but the Vivaldi developers deem it a privacy issue. Should be part of onboarding imo, itβs that important. -
Bad news and good news
If you are still on an earlier version, you may be out of luck.
The good news is I have two strategies:
First, if you click on the trash can at the bottom of Workspaces column, you will see recently closed windows. They are not specifically divided into Workspaces, but you can glean something from them. If you only have 5 Workspaces to recover, you may be able to reconstitute everything from there.
Second, I notice that the Sessions function seems to have improved since some recent updates.
There is one other thing: you may find that there are saved sessions that could help you. In the current version, if you go to File : Open Saved Session, you may find an auto saved session that has what you need.

Hi,
Thx for your reply.- my version of Vivaldi is up-to-date.
- I cannot find any autosaved sessions. How can I (auto) save them? I have checked the auotsave now in settings. Is that what mean?

If you are on the newest version, the window that comes up after you click on Open Saved Session will show you any sessions that are available.
As for auto saving sessions, click on the Sessions panel (it's the curved arrow with lines inside) and look at the bottom. There is a checkbox there for Automatic Session Backup
