Minor update (2) for Vivaldi Desktop Browser 7.3
-
@Pathduck Thanks for the tip. I had previously only selected the dark mode in Windows in general, but not the dark mode for apps.
Now it at least works in Windows.In Linux, I have selected a dark theme for applications. However, the splash screen is still bright, even with other dark themes.

And yes we choose to go even darker in the end.
this was the only way to go basically considering you really wanted to keep that message there, otherwise with black fonts on bright canvas it would still be too bright/flashbang and white fonts on bright/darker canvas would be too distracting like this old one was.
Now it is a not-so-intrusive but still legible set on a dark (not-blinding) canvas.

Your DM is probably not setting this in a place Chromium and thus we look. Try this
dconf write /org/gnome/desktop/interface/color-scheme \'prefer-dark\'

@Pathduck I agree but this is what we landed on and I hope everyone will now accept it as a "best compromise".

@Ruarí I know @npro will probably hate this but I still think it could do with a little splash of red for the heart
Hey, please don't tease me or I will post your message here https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/106634/please-let-us-modify-the-new-splash-screen and 37+ will probably eat you, ok?
Also if you want to go "full love" you 'd better do it right like this, I will not accept any other petty compromise.
-
@Ruarí Thanks for the code. Unfortunately it does not work.
-
@npro That's beautiful
I wish we could modify it - maybe we can make a feature request to choose our own splash screen

oh now you really want that? well that thread is exactly about that and covers a) love theme b) flashbang c) messages already, where are you in that upvoters list?
Still time

@Pathduck I agree. With or without foto, I'd like to be able to modify the color.

[Chromium] Update to 134.0.6998.189: plus some 135 back-ported code related to security
Do any Vivaldi dev have contacts on the Chromium team? We need someone to remind them to properly update extended-stable branch with security updates while it is under support.
-
@npro I just like to keep my expectations low - saves me from being disappointed
-
@Pathduck yes but low expectations = low effort = low product
-
@Levrini We already talked to the Chromium team about that particular patch; they were not sure it would stay in 135, so they did not update 134 with it this week. We decided to take it anyway. We would have gotten it next week, if we hadn't.
-
nice thanks for another update, and I didn't even see the splash screen it started up so fast !
-
@npro: That's true!
-
@dancer18: Me too
-
You V guys are great; thank you so much!
-
@ThePfromtheO V for Victory!

@Dancer18 Try open
chrome://settings
and search for GTK, enable it and restart. Then your dark desktop environment could be detected by Vivaldi – i hope.
