Option for Overlay & Auto-dock Panel
-
Don't redraw/change webpage's width when Show/Hide the Panel, simply overlay the panel on top of the webpage (just like extension's popup). Fully redraw entire webpage when showing & hiding the panel are very cumbersome & take a lot of time (when opened 100+ tabs).
-
Auto-dock the panel with mouse-over & mouse-out event. Display a very thin 2-4 pixels of toggle area on the left/right side of the screen is sufficient. No need to display a big fat vertical line for toggle area.
-
Add arrows >> and << on Panel to change panel position, just like the good old Opera 12.

Please Highlight the Preview Thumbnail of Active Tab with Outline
-
Highlight the Active tab will help finding active tab from the stacked tabs a lot easier.
-
Please highlighting tab with square outline around the tab's thumbnail, this is much easier to spot than showing a "lighter color" of thumbnail title bar (because you can't see the "lighter color" highlights with light-color theme).

Add Support for Coloured Fonts
I don't know if this is due to a Chrome update, or whether I overlooked it before, but apparently Vivaldi does now support Colour Fonts. If you select the text you will find that the coloured text in the heading is text, not images. The coloured glyphs are in the Private Use Area, so wil not display without a suitable font. (eb onts)

Add sites on bookmarks bar
What do you need? One can already drag and drop a URL to the bookmarks bar from the icon in the URL field.
-
Always open new tab from address bar
Currently, there are already options to open new tab from either "alt+enter" or "shift + enter", I'd like to have the option to select just "enter" and use "alt + enter" to reuse the current tab instead.

Works just like it should. And since disabling autoplay is possible right now, maybe it would be better if more dev effort would be put on things not possible to do in other ways, or on internal Vivaldi affairs.
I disagree. You dont know how long this extension works and who is behind it. I used Magic Actions for YouTube to stop html5-autoplay. Youtube changed something a few days (or hours) ago, it doesn't work anymore, thus renders Vivaldi unusable unless you have unlimited bandwidth and download volume.
The option to disable autoplay from within Vivaldi in indispensable. Every important feature should be in Vivaldi not in some questionable third party extension.Edit: I installed the extension you mentioned (Disable HTML5 Autoplay). It doesn't prevent autoplay on Youtube, at least on my system it doesn't.

YouTube Plus by Particle works fine

@Stardust
YouTube Plus doesn't work for me either. It is integrated into YouTube and wants a Google Account for the settings. I don't have and I don't want an account with Google.
In the meantime: Opera 12 doesn't know html5. Almost perfect to browse YouTube (and download the really interesting videos with youtube-dl). -

Yes, that's right, but just to be fair, chrome extensions are distributed under the same (at least in parts relevant here) conditions as Vivaldi itself (free software, no guarantees, and so on) (I hope I'm not wrong here
).
And please don't think I'm comparing here V creators/community with developers of small chrome extensions. That's not the case, those are only official conditions. I'm writing about it just because this sentence of yours also sounds like it was more about official problems.
What's more I'm not saying to abandon this feature completely, I just suggest that there may be some more urgent problems than moving "stop autoplay" feature support from "chrome extension level" to "Vivaldi community level". However, I did very important assumption there, that extension works with no problems. Apparently that's not true for everyone.Anyway, i wrote that only to "defend my way of thinking", I'm not going to argue about that, or convince anybody to think the same. As i wrote earlier, its only my thought, and since there wasn't here any similar-meaning post to vote on, I wrote one myself just for devs to consider.
Every important feature should be in Vivaldi not in some questionable third party extension.
Definitely agreed, but for me higher priority should have features missing completely (in general, because as it turns out this particular one is somehow in between). That was the whole point of my post.
-
Chrome is intended to be a general-purpose browser. Its developers do not prize configurability or customization. As such, any features that >75% of its users wouldn't care about weren't included in the browser and were instead relegated to extensions.
Vivaldi is supposed to be exactly the opposite-- it is the spiritual successor to Opera, which embraced and encouraged user customization. It's a power-user's browser.
That's why "there's an extension that does that already" isn't a worthy response. Even if the extension exists and works (and it seems in this case, it doesn't work), something like a switch to stop auto-playing media is still worth having built-in to the browser.
-
@Stardust
I tried again and can get to the settings now. Maybe after installing the extension it needs a restart of Vivaldi to work.
Thanks. -

Don't confuse free software (you don't have to pay for using it) with open source (everyone can read the source code to check for malicious code). But even supposing the extensions were open source this doesn't help unless someone really checks the code. I for sure can't do this, so I have to rely on other people to do that. With a browser and its wide distribution there is a higher probability of someone checking the code than with an extension.
It probably did not make it to international news, but in Germany we recently had the situation of browser add-ons (at least one called Web of Trust) spying on users with the data being sold. The data contained the complete browser history which in a lot of cases made it possible to connect it to an individual with everything connected. This in some cases included health data, confidential data of police investigations and it also enabled the buyer to access cloud services of the user and all the files stored there.

Oh, ok, so actually I was wrong about licence-I was't aware that chrome extensions have closed source. Thanks for clarification.Still, I wrote my opinion as an end-user looking for feature full browser after old Opera became unusable (even though I'm developer myself and see differences here), and as this, I hold on to it. Maybe I should care a little more about protecting from malicious code ;d
Despite that, you're of course right in everything you've wrote.
And since I had expressed my opinion, this looks like becoming a little OT, so I'd like to end here -

And since I had expressed my opinion, this looks like becoming a little OT, so I'd like to end hereI don't know about the licence of extensions. Most probably there are various depending on the developer. Chrome and Vivaldi as far as I know are both freeware with partly open-source, partly proprietary code.
I don't think this is OT. We are talking about the reasons to request a feature in Vivaldi, a feature that can already be had using an extension (in my case it can't because all those extension don't work or work for some sites only).
If I use a browser that is not completely open source I have to trust the browser's developer. If the browser is completely open source I have to have faith in there being some person on earth curious enough to check the browser and honest enough to alert the public in case of malicious code.
If I add a dozen extensions to the browser I have to trust the extensions' developers as well. But they might not be trustworthy. The extension I mentioned had been installed by 140 million users world wide

Highlight when tabs are duplicates of each other.
Bonus points for a 'cleanup tabs' right-click option which deletes n-1 out of n copies of the same page. Even better if duplicate cleanup leaves a tab in place if it's a form with data already inputted into it.
