SpeedDial and bookmark bar dedicated to each Workspaces
-
@vmoench Yes, in some cases this is also a good, if not better solution. Over time, this will all be optimized. First of all, it's good that the workspaces exist.

Any progress on this request already?

I think this is a great idea.
One thing that is important, is that even though the bookmark bar and speeddial is custom for each workspace, your bookmarks should be global and accessible from any workspace.
This is the big advantage of this suggested feature compared to User Profiles or how Microsoft Edge works with workspaces. When you switch user profile or workspace in Edge, you also switch all the bookmarks. In my case this means that I have two bookmark collections (or more) to keep up to date.
-
I currently have two user profiles, one for work and one for personal. Now I have to choose which profile to sync with my phone, so I would prefer to have them as workspaces instead.

You can have a closer look at the actual Safari. They are doing this very good as you can define a bookmark folder for each workspace.

Has something been done with this feature request? I desperately need it, I tried out vivaldi because of the workspaces concept, but without bookmark bar/speeddial switching along with the workspace, the entire concept is pretty much useless for having a workspace, as I need a lot of custom bookmarks for the domains i'm working on as they have their own requirements, etc.. and having them quickly accessible via bookmark bar or speed dial is paramount to me, without having to navigate folders.
I'm still stuck on using this https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/bookmarks-bar-switcher/lcaelgondnfehcambmdhhfokjknhfahc plugin to manage it then, and then there is for me no motivation to switch to vivaldi. -
It would be awesome to be able to set specific bookmark folder to be used as bookmark bar on per-workspace basis rather than globally!

Another +1. This would hugely improve workspaces. With a workspace you are doing a particular kind of work, and that would usually come with a particular set of bookmarks.
-
+10 I agree. Allow us to choose (override) the SpeedDial and Bookmarks bar folders per workspace! This would allow both to co-exist, customize the SpeedDial and keep the workspace bookmarks organized in their own section inside the whole bookmarks collection.
This would be awesome! I'm migrating from MS Edge, had multiple profiles (personal, work, family, research), necessary before workspaces arrived and now this seems like the next logical feature that would really surpass separate profiles.
Similarly, History and Bookmarks search should be filterable somehow per Workspace. Then you get a full separate or not experience as you wish.
I'm excited to learn more about Vivaldi in depth, so far so good I was motivated enough to switch this week and am slowly migrating everything and making it home...

@brunodery Vote for the first post if you haven't already done so. (Voting again will remove your vote).

+1, this would be a good improvement.

@Blindheit
Interesting use case, thanks for sharing.I can see how you'd benefit from separate Bookmarks for each Workspace.
Speed Dial is your friend and Bookmarks are dead and have been. Thus why the speed dial page needs to be made to allow for unlimited groups.

@CummingCowGirl Bookmark bar has been useful for me when I have work processes that are "drop everything and deal with X NOW". At that point I don't even want to open a new tab because the old tab is distracting, I just need to deal with the thing. I wouldn't count it out yet. Also, we're all here because for the flexibility and options.

This is also a critical feature for me. I would add that for implementation, it could (for my workflow) be as simple as adding "Select Bookmarks Bar Folder" as an option for Command Chains, as it would be simple enough to sort all workspaces into separate folders. If that is a separate feature, I can make a different request, but it's surely related.
I can see how that may not be an optimal implementation for other peoples' workflows who don't use custom buttons / command chains to switch workspaces.
