Solved Synchronization of entire history
-
Unfortunately not having history sync is a deal breaker for me.
I noticed how important this is when I spent the whole day visiting a website on my PC and when I picked up my smartphone to visit the same website, I saw that Vivaldi on the smartphone had no trace that I had even visited that website. Not to mention that without history sync, search suggestions on devices are greatly impaired, as they are only based on the individual history of each device.
In short, using Vivaldi, you would be highly dependent on Google or other search engine to search for website addresses that you saw on one device because Vivaldi on another device has no idea that you saw it. And if by chance you need to know the name of a website you visited on a device you no longer have access to, Vivaldi certainly won't help you with that.
And no, I'm not going to clutter up my bookmarks with hundreds of websites that I visit occasionally just so Vivaldi remembers them. This is not how I use bookmarks.

I upvoted this. Hopefully it gets implemented some day.
In the meantime, the History Trends Unlimited extension cap keep an unlimited history (i.e. bigger than the hardcoded 90 days limit in Chromium) and has an import/export feature. I use it to keep the histories in my several Vivaldi installations on different computers in sync.

@Barruel This feature request has just been changed to "in progess". This means that the Vivaldi team has this feature on the to-do list, but a release date has not yet been set.

History sync can now be tested in the latest Snapshot.
Please share your feedback with the dev team in the Snapshot blog's comment section. -
@jane-n Unfortunately, I have to say that at least on Windows it doesn't synchronize with my mobile phone yet - both last test versions (snapshot)..
-
@lukaskarabec currently it only seem to sync newly made history entries. At some point it will get all past entries. It's just a first test version currently.

So fix, unfortunately the synchronization stopped working.. So fix it, unfortunately the synchronization stopped working...

@LonM Will this be compatible with the mobile version in the future?
-
@lukaskarabec From my testing, sync of new history items is working with mobile in snapshots. But you will need to wait until the feature is fully finished and released before using it in stable versions. But for now, still not working with full history.

You can now Sync your full browsing history (encrypted, of course) - from any device - using Vivaldi 6.5.
